Sugizo is best-known as lead guitarist and at times-violinist of LUNA SEA, and recently became the lead guitarist in X Japan, taking the late hide's place. He also had played a major part in The FLARE, but have since parted ways.
In 2007, Yoshiki and Gackt announced that Sugizo was the lead guitarist in the so-called superband known as S.K.I.N. along with Miyavi. Currently, the future of this project remains unclear. Sugizo is also a member of trance/world music act, Juno Reactor since that year.
Sugizo is still heavily involved with LUNA SEA and in December 2013, recently released 'A Will', LUNA SEA's new studio album after thirteen years. He has also composed original soundtracks as well as acted in for several theatre pieces, including the play '7 Doors' in May 2012 which was a staging of Bartók's opera 'Bluebeard's Castle'. In November 2013, Sugizo was also the musical director and composer for a new staging of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
While in Luna Sea, Sugizo almost exclusively used ESP guitars and has around sixteen signature models with them. For his solo projects he often uses Fender guitars and basses. For live violin playing, and recording he uses signature ESP electric violin.

Origination... Unknown
Life's Reaction... Unknown

Living in the fetters called flesh
I fwe can't sense it, we will disintegrate
Light ray's that haven't reached us yet
It's sweet and gentle but oh so cruel...
Reason for malfunction... Unknown

Faster, faster iinto the viod
Faster, into the truth
What have we been so afraid of?
I don't want to be kept there
We are insignificant but we are universe
truth?
tokiwa sorawa nagareteikune
ima, naikaga kawarou toshiteirune
kanjirarenakereba kowareteshimau
kokokara nukedasanakya
Through the boundless century and we forget
Through the boundless century and just we remember
Where is the truth?
The lyrics of Sugizo's song The Cage depict a deep sense of confusion about the purpose and meaning of life. The singer struggles to grasp its raison d'etre and is haunted by a sense of not belonging to this existence. The question 'what is the truth?' appears repeatedly, emphasizing the theme of existential ambiguity. The song suggests that we are all trapped indoors, within the confinement of time and the fragility of our bodies which will eventually decay. The notion of being 'infected' and the sense of malfunction signify a deeper longing to understand our place in the grand scheme of things.
The singer suggests that we need to move 'faster into the void' and into the truth to escape the cage of time which holds us down. The speed and velocity that we need to go at are emphasized in the repetition of the word 'faster' accentuating the urgency of the situation. The lyrics further suggest that our inability to sense and comprehend the 'light rays' that are yet to reach us leads to our eventual disintegration. The song suggests that life cannot be understood until we move through it with purpose and that the journey to truth is ongoing.
