Fresh off a tour with The Black Lips after playing this year’s Coachella, the band just released ‘Bort to Death’ a raw 4-track 7” on Hozac Records and "Romance" a dreamy 2-track flexi on Cult Records.
In the last three years they have supported acts such as The Dickies, Thee Oh Sees, Fat White Family, White Fang, Martin Rev, The Garden, Tijuana Panthers, The Mystery Lights, Tomorrows Tulips, Sunflower Bean, DIIV, GOGGS, The Dune Rats, Leftover Crack etc, Meatbodies, Ex-Cult, Hinds etc.
A favorite among local artists, it is no wonder when Julian Casablancas caught wind of the Surfbort’s electrifying energy, he signed them to Cult Records. Stay tuned for more from Cult Records and the band.

Won′t you go to the place you were gonna meet me?
Hey there, Billy
Won't you go to the place where we′re gonna be free?
You're my friend and you're my lover
So what about keepin′ it under the covers?
You′re my friend and you're my lover
Hey there, Billy
Won't you go to the place you were gonna meet me?
Hey there, Billy
Won′t you go to the place where we're gonna be free?
You′re my friend and you're my lover
So what about keepin' it under the covers?
You′re my friend and you′re my lover
So what about keepin' it under the covers?
Hey there, Billy, won′t you come? Billy, won't you come?
Hey there, Billy, won′t you come?
Hey there, Billy, won't you come? Billy, won′t you come?
Hey there, Billy, won't you come?
You're my friend and you′re my lover
So what about keepin′ it under the covers?
You're my friend and you′re my lover
The lyrics to "Billy" by SURFBORT speak about a relationship between two people, specifically the singer and their friend/lover Billy. The song starts with the singer asking Billy to go to the place where they were supposed to meet up, and then asking him to go to the place where they can be free. This could be interpreted as a physical location where they feel more comfortable or safe, or it could be a metaphorical place where they can be themselves without any judgment or constraints.
Throughout the song, the singer refers to Billy as both a friend and a lover, which suggests that they have a complex relationship that goes beyond just platonic friendship. However, the singer also seems conflicted about their feelings for Billy, as they suggest keeping their relationship "under the covers" or hidden from others. This could be due to societal or personal pressures regarding their sexual orientation or unconventional relationship.
The chorus of the song repeats the same lines, with the singer urging Billy to come to them. The song ends with the singer again mentioning their friendship and love for Billy but still questioning how they should proceed with it.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a complicated and intimate relationship between two individuals that is not easily defined or understood by others. The song captures the tension and uncertainty that can come with being in a non-traditional relationship, as well as the desire to hold onto a connection that is meaningful to both parties involved.
