The band name was suggested by a friend of the band named Rick Rogers back in 1985. It was originally taken from the novel Dune where Sadus are judges. The Fremen title refers to holy judges, equivalent to saints. However, as stated by bassist Steve DiGiorgio: "He (Rogers) liked the sound of it and he said he could make it into a cool logo. So we chose it [...] it's not supposed to have a meaning as we don't stand for anything."
The group split up in 2015, but reformed 2 years later without DiGiorgio.

The lyrics of "No More" by Sadus describe an individual who has reached their breaking point with someone who has consistently deceived, rejected and lied to them. The lyrics speak to the individual's unwillingness to tolerate any more of this person's erratic and untrustworthy behavior. The first verse portrays the individual feeling a sense of numbness and no longer responding to the other person's screams of agony. The individual is resigned to the fact that nothing can be done to change the situation, and that they have heard it all before. In the chorus, the individual clearly urges the other person to stop the pretense, and tell the truth.
The second verse talks about the other person's evil nature, which is visible through their cold black demeanor. The pre-chorus line "No more true words, no more voice heard" represents the individual making a conscious decision to not trust the other person's words, which are full of deception. Finally, the last verse brings forth a sense of anger, with the lyrics talking about tearing one face off and seeing the next one with bloody fists. It is clear that the individual has reached their breaking point, and no apologies, excuses or promises will suffice.
