Raised in the Buddhist spirituality of his parents and rocked by the soundtrack of The Big Blue, Aurélien Hamm tells us about the fragility but also the beauty of our love stories, and the reincarnation of our wounds in the repetition of our days.
Oscillating between English and French, swaying bass and ethereal layers, auto-tune and nakedness of the voice, he cites Sade as well as Mylène Farmer, Better Person, Kanye West or Prince among his influences.
Since 2018, he has released 3 singles (Regrets, First Fantasy and I Still Care), accompanied Charlotte Gainsbourg on stage and played a number of her opening acts. He has just put the finishing touches to SDX, a 9-track EP available on Cracki Records and Because Music. He will be in concert in Paris at Point Éphémère on 12 December 2019.

La fête est finie
Tu n'es plus près de moi
T'es parti
Tu t'es enfui
La fête est finie
I never worked it out
You never saw me crying
Only trying
But when the pleasures are burning
It can grow
We've only been deceived
And now I know
It's hard to understand it
It's hard to think about it
I never neglected it
I only faked it
It's hard to work without it
And even to dream of it
I'll never understand it
I'll never walk through it
Je ne sais plus où je vais
Je sais je me laisse aller
Depuis qu'on se connait
On ne s'est jamais lâchés
J'attendais tout de nous deux
Et un peu plus encore
On oublie tout de nous deux
D'un commun accord
It's hard to understand it
It's hard to think about it
I never neglected it
I only faked it
It's hard to work without it
And even to dream of it
I'll never understand it
I'll never walk through it
It's hard to understand it
It's hard to think about it
I never neglected it
I only faked it
It's hard to work without it
And even to dream of it
I'll never understand it
I'll never walk through it
C'est fini
La fête est finie
C'est fini
La fête est finie
C'est fini
The song "Regrets" by Saint DX is a poignant reflection on the end of a romantic relationship. The chorus repeats the phrase "C'est fini" which translates to "It's over". The singer laments that the party is over and their lover is no longer by their side, they've left and now the party is truly over. The singer acknowledges that they never worked out what went wrong in the relationship, but it seems that they were only trying to keep the pleasure alive. It's as if they were both deceiving themselves into believing that everything was okay when it wasn't. The singer admits that it's hard to understand what went wrong and even harder to live without their former lover as they are unsure of where they're going and feel like they're just drifting.
The second verse reveals that the singer had high hopes for the relationship and was waiting for something more. However, they both agreed that everything has to be forgotten now. The singer once again admits that they faked it and never really understood what happened. They concede that it's difficult to work without their partner and even to dream of a life without them. The repetition of the chorus at the end reinforces the message that the relationship is over and the party is well and truly finished.
