Dust, ash and smoke
Fill night with evil
You can't see the force
Feeding on cruel night
And on lives of the brave
She's certainly come
Searching the country
With her blackened eyes
She's looking for each flash
Of a mind weak or tired
Feel Morana
Spread her wings over the country
Spreading her great dark wings
She'll turn her head
Look in your eyes
She'll search your soul, your soul
What could she find
Inside your mind
Is there a hope, oh hope?
She's certainly come
Spreading her wings
Searching the country
With her blackened eyes
She's looking for each flash
Of a mind weak or tired
Feel Morana
Spread her wings over the country
Spreading her great dark wings
She'll turn her head
Look in your eyes
She'll search your soul, your soul
What could she find
Inside your mind
Is there a hope, oh hope?
She'll turn her head
Look in your eyes
She'll search your soul, your soul
What could she find
Inside your mind
Is there a hope, oh hope?
What will you tell her
If ever asked
Proud Moravian
How did you help your country?
The lyrics of Salamandra's song "The Blackest Wings" paint a dark and ominous picture of a land that has fallen into a state of sleep, consumed by dust, ash, and smoke. These elements symbolize the destruction and evil that has taken hold. In the midst of this chaos, a powerful force emerges, personified as a character named Morana. She spreads her wings, representing her dominance and control over the country's fate. With her blackened eyes, she searches for weakness and weariness in the minds of the people.
The song raises the question of what lies within our minds and souls, what hope or despair could be found there. Morana, as a representation of the oppressive force that governs the land, turns her head and looks into the eyes of individuals, searching their souls for any glimmer of hope. The lyrics suggest that she seeks to exploit and manipulate those who are weak or tired.
In the final lines, the song asks the listener to consider their own role in the face of this darkness. If confronted by Morana, what would you say about your contribution to the country? It presents a challenge to reflect on how one has helped or hindered their homeland, urging a sense of responsibility and action in the face of adversity.
Overall, "The Blackest Wings" is a metaphorical exploration of a country consumed by darkness, personified by the character of Morana. It serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and proactive in the face of oppression and to consider our own impact on society.
