Fish, called a Blues prodigy at only 21, has been known to share the stage with several influential blues artists such as Tommy Castro, Tab Benoit, Shirley King, Watermelon Slim, Kenny Neal and Cedric Burnside. Her deceptively mature voice, is sultry and innocent at the same time, while her intense guitar gives her a sound that is a cross between Jonny Lang and Susan Tedeschi. Backed by Kansas City music veterans Paul Greenlease and Danny Montero, Fish has set out to show the world that she can certainly wail the Blues.
Bulletproof

Not show my rage for you
You got my love, its not enough
I need to prove it to you
Whatβ²s the difference,
What's the difference, whatβ²s the difference in me now?
I can change, I can change, I can change oh tell me how
I'd turn this on you, I'd turn it on you,
Turn it on you, Iβ²d turn this on you,
Turn it on you, but you're bulletproof
You got my gaze, Iβ²m just a phase
A shift in your point of view
Your rocks are off, you demagogue
I'm just someone to talk to
Make me feel something real, Iβ²d fall for your muse
Where's the spark thru the dark for you light my fuse?
But itβ²s all about you
I'd turn it on you, turn it on you,
I'd turn it on you, but youβ²re bulletproof
Iβ²d turn it on you, turn it on you,
I'd turn it on you, but youβ²re bulletproof
It's all about you baby
Broken things, I kick and scream, Iβ²d fall apart to move you
Shot down in vogue, I got the joke, you need me bulletproof
Twisted up and turned out you say I'm crazy now
Youβ²re bellicose, I loved you so, I'm on my way out
I'd turn it on you, turn it on you,
Iβ²d turn it on you, but youβ²re bulletproof
I'd turn it on you, turn it on you,
Iβ²d turn it on you, but you're bulletproof
The lyrics of Samantha Fish's "Bulletproof" depict a one-sided relationship where the singer is constantly trying to please and prove themselves to their partner. The partner is presented as cold and unfeeling, described as bulletproof. The singer is trained to suppress their own emotions and put on a performance for their partner, even though they know their love is not enough. They express a desire to change and understand what they can do to make things better, but ultimately, they come to the realization that their efforts are futile. The partner is unwilling to open up to them or be vulnerable in any way, and the singer is left feeling used and discarded.
The singer describes feeling like a mere phase in their partner's life, someone to talk to but not really connect with. They long for something real and a spark to reignite their love, but their partner is too consumed with themselves to care. The singer gets angry and frustrated, feeling like a pawn in their partner's game, and even considers turning things around on them. However, they know it's pointless since their partner is bulletproof and unwilling to change.

I feel I should point out that this is actually todays music...it didn't come out twenty years ago. Good music exists in every generation but sometimes you have to turn off the corporate radio and do a little searching.
