She began her singing career at the age of eight on Australian radio, and during this time she entered and won several talent quests. By the age of 15 she had her first hit record in Australia, with the song "You Made Me What I Am", and she won a "Best Female Vocalist" award. She quickly became a well known celebrity on Australian television, but she felt her career was limited if she remained in Australia. She travelled to the United Kingdom and performed with such groups as Herman's Hermits, The Hollies and the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees wrote "The Love Of A Woman" for her, and her recording became a hit in some European countries.
By the mid 1970s she had changed her name to Samantha Sang, and had moved to the United States where she renewed her acquaintance with the Bee Gees. The Gibb brothers wrote another song for her, which coincided with their huge level of popularity, and the single "Emotion" (with back-up vocals by the Bee Gees) became a major hit worldwide. It reached number 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1978, and earned Sang a platinum record.
Determined to succeed on her own merits, she would not record another Gibb song to capitalise on her success, and chose a disco song, "You Keep Me Dancing" as her next single release. The song did not become a hit, stalling at number 57 in the U.S., and her career faltered.
In 2004, and residing again in Melbourne, Sang announced that she would return to live performing, and that her three albums would be released for the first time on CD.
It's The Falling In Love

But that don't mean that I
Don't know where we are
And though I find myself attracted to you
This time I'm trying not to go to far
'cause
No matter how it starts it ends the same
Someone's always doing someone more
It's only gonna happen again
It's the falling in love
That's making me high
It's the being in love that
Makes me cry, cry, cry
It's the falling in love
That's making me high
It's the being in love that
Makes me cry, cry, cry
All nightall night
And though I'm trying not to
Look in you're eyes
Each time I do they kind
Of burn right through me
Don't want to lay down in a bed full of lies
And yet my heart is saying
"come and do me"
Now we're just a web of mystery
A possibility of more to come
I'd rather leave the fantasy
Of what might be but here I go falling again
It's the falling in love
That's making me high
It's the being in love that
Makes me cry, cry, cry
It's the falling in love
That's making me high
It's the being in love that
Makes me cry, cry, cry
Over youover you (all night)
In Samantha Sang's song "It's the Falling in Love," the singer is expressing their experiences and emotions in a complicated romantic relationship. The lyrics suggest that the singer has encountered various types of love before, but they understand the familiar pattern that these relationships tend to follow. The singer acknowledges their attraction to the person they are currently involved with but is determined to not let themselves get too deeply involved. They have learned from past experiences that relationships often start with passion but eventually lead to pain.
The lyrics convey the idea that the singer is aware of the risks and potential consequences of falling in love. They recognize that the initial excitement of falling in love can be intoxicating, hence the line, "It's the falling in love that's making me high." However, they understand that the intense emotions of being in love can also lead to heartache and tears, as indicated by the line, "It's the being in love that makes me cry, cry, cry."
Despite their reservations, the singer struggles to resist the allure of this new connection. They express the conflict between their rational mind, which urges caution and self-protection, and their heart's desire for intimacy and connection. The lyrics depict the singer's internal dilemma, acknowledging the risk of getting hurt but feeling drawn to explore the possibility of a deeper relationship.
Overall, "It's the Falling in Love" delivers a message of vulnerability, caution, and complexity in the realm of romantic relationships. It captures the conflicting emotions and uncertainties that arise when we find ourselves falling for someone while simultaneously being aware of the potential pain that may follow.
