Former Metallica and Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine was the influential force in getting the band signed to Epic Records. He produced their first album and played guitar on their cover of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit. The band was dissolved in 1991, following pressure from Epic Records to fit in with the flourishing Seattle grunge scene. No time left to bite the hand that feeds
The lure of money corrupts the weak, and soon they fall
Little boy turns to man with a weapon when
He's poisoned with crack
This time it was his turn to dies
Fate call his number in a bloody goodbye
Play war games, crack cocaine, all for material gain
Stray gunfire an innocent dies
The shadow of hope bleeds as power begets greed
One more murder and one more death
Make no difference in the street
Come tomorrow you could be dead
That's the grim reality
And the media they feed off the sickness
They stoke the fire as they eat
All the while being glamorized by rap
The lure of power creates a death trap of social decay
Play war games, crack cocaine, all for material gain
In the end, your life is spend
The shadow of hope bleeds as power begets greed
One more murder and one more death
Make no difference in the street
Come tomorrow you could be dead
That's the grim reality
One more murder
Makes no difference in the street
One more murder
That's the grim reality
No future, no future, no future on the street
The song 'One More Murder' by Sanctuary speaks about the harsh and bitter realities of life on the streets. The lyrics depict the desperate existence of poverty-ridden individuals who fall into the trap of corruption and deceit in search of material gain. The life of crime is not a glamorous one, the song highlights the harsh and brutal consequences of participating in this lifestyle. The first few lines of the song, "These days it's a cold reality, living life on the street. No time left to bite the hand that feeds", emphasize the cold and harsh environment that one may experience due to homelessness or lack of support. The song depicts a scenario where a little boy turns to a man and gets caught up in this vicious cycle of money and drugs, and ultimately falls victim to violence.
The song also criticizes the media and the glorification of violence displayed in rap music. The lyrics state how the media feeds off the sickness and uses it to create sensationalism, while rap music glamorizes the life of crime and promotes it as a way of life, glorifying the dangers while trivializing the consequences. Such actions create a vicious cycle of social decay, and power begets greed leading to a life that ends on the streets. The song conveys the message that there is no future on the streets, and engaging in a life of violence and crime ultimately leads to death.
