Comincia, comincia
Comincia compir
Questo ferro
I duri, i duri uffizii
Già nel seno
Comincia, comincia
Questo ferro
I duri, i duri uffizii
Sento ch'il cor
Si scuote dal dolor
Della vicina morte
Già nel seno
Comincia, comincia
Comincia compir
Questo ferro
I duri, i duri uffizii
Uffizii
The lyrics of Sarah Brightman's song "Gia Nel Seno" are sung in Italian and are written in a classical style. The song starts with the repetition of the phrase "Già nel seno" which translates to "already in the breast." The use of the phrase conveys tension and a sense of foreboding. The second line repeats the same phrase, but with the word "comincia" added in, emphasizing the sense of beginning or starting something. The phrase then turns to "Comincia compir" which translates to "begins to complete," indicating an impending sense of something coming to an end.
The lyrics then turn to "Questo ferro" which translates to "This iron." The use of the phrase is ambiguous, but it could refer to a sword, which would be fitting for the classical style of the song. The phrase "I duri, i duri uffizii" translates to "The hard, the hard offices," which could refer to the difficult tasks that must be undertaken with the sword.
