Evolution
Sarah Fimm Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What it was before
That you'll always be left
Wanting something more
When everything that you
Thought you were is gone
Blue sky dawn
Evolution comes
Seek but you may never find the door
The one you thought that you were looking for
And the sound of silence pulls you to the floor
Blue sky dawn
Evolution comes
So you think you have been broken by the fall
You ask me if there's any hope at all
Well we must look forward
That is all I know
To the blue sky dawn
Evolution comes
The lyrics to Sarah Fimm's "Evolution" reflect the transformative nature of life and how it can leave a person feeling lost and searching for something more. The opening lines imply that nothing remains the same, and the constant change can leave a person feeling unfulfilled. The singer seems to be undergoing some form of personal evolution, alluding to the idea that the person they once were is gone.
The lines that read, "Seek but you may never find the door, the one you thought that you were looking for, and the sound of silence pulls you to the floor," suggest that the singer is searching for something specific but is unable to find it. The "sound of silence" may indicate a sense of loneliness, which can be overwhelming and makes it difficult to move forward.
However, the lyrics suggest that the key to moving forward is to focus on the future and not dwell on the past. The singer is encouraged to look to the "blue sky dawn," representing a new beginning or a fresh start, where evolution comes. The final lines of the song suggest that there is always hope for someone who has been through difficult times, and the only way to push through is to embrace change and look to the future.
