Flames
Sarah Fimm Lyrics

My light is gone
Will I receive again
This bitter song plays all night long
And pain my sweetest friend
Hold me now like we will never die
The flame still burns
I wonder is there an end
I know you’ve gone on for so long
Crashing out crashing in
Hold me now like we will never die
Oh how precious time can seem
The time has come
My light is gone
Will I receive again
This bitter song plays all night long
I wonder is there an end
Hold me now like we will never die
In Sarah Fimm's song "Flames," the singer is struggling with the absence of something that has brought light into their life. The opening lines "My light is gone / Will I receive again" suggest that the singer has lost something precious to them, perhaps a person or a passion. They are left with a "bitter song" that plays on repeat through the night, and pain becomes their "sweetest friend."
Despite this overwhelming loss and pain, the singer still holds onto hope. They implore their loved one to "hold me now like we will never die," perhaps recognizing the fleeting nature of life and the importance of cherishing the love and connection they still have. The flame may still burn, but the seasons continue to turn and the singer wonders if there will ever be an end to their pain.
Overall, "Flames" is a poignant and emotional song that explores the complexities of grief and longing. The theme of time is also present in the lyrics, with the singer realizing how precious it can seem when faced with loss.
