Sarah McLachlan Lyrics

Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on, our troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now
The lyrics to Sarah McLachlan's version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas are a beautiful invitation to embrace joy and hope during the holidays. The song begins with a call to let go of any troubles we might be carrying and allow our hearts to be filled with light. This optimistic message is followed by a wish for a merry Christmas and the hope that our troubles will be miles away.
The second verse of the song invites us to remember times in the past that were filled with happiness and the presence of loved ones. We're invited to gather with those who are dear to us once again and to believe that, through the years, we'll continue to be together if fate allows. The song ends with a call to hang a shining star upon the highest bough and to have a merry little Christmas now.
