The band started in march of 2004, when Karen and Chanto got together to start a new music venture. This would be their second time together in a band, since they had previously been in Prana, a Trip Hop trio a few years back. Joe, Juan and Diego would latter join them, giving birth to SATIN DOLLS.
Influenced mainly by new wave, punk and a new worldwide rock scene, the band began writing songs. At the same time they started performing in the main Rock and Roll venues of Mexico City, and after just six months of playing together signed a record contract with Universal Music Mexico.
In October of 2005, the band traveled to Miami, to record part of their first E.P, with the Argentinean producer Gustavo Menendez (Volumen Cero, Circo, JD Natasha, Cohete). A few months latter, they recorded two more songs with Emmanuel "Meme" del Real, who happens to be a band member of Café Tacvba, and has worked as a producer with many artists (Ely Guerra, Natalia y la Forquetina, Liquits).
During these two years of playing together, Satin Dolls have been in places such as Bulldog, Hard Rock Live, Pasaguero, Salon 21, and Vive Latino. The band is currently promoting their new album, titled "Luces y Sombras" and their second single, "Perdiendo la Razón".

Sin Respiración
Satin Dolls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Can't look the ligth
Mis labios se abren
And noting coming now
Ahh no.
Buscas dejar de palpitar
Por un momento olvido respirar
Para llorar
Hay cantar
Para huir
Hay que sangrar
Los pasos se sienten
Come on and take the knifth
Los ojos se pierden
And you take a show
Ahh, más
Y lloro
Y lloras
Sin respiración
La luna te abrigara en la oscuridad
Para llorar
Hay cantar
Para huir
Hay que sangrar
Para sentir
Hay que matar
The lyrics of Satin Dolls' song "Sin Respiración" speak about a deep sense of despair and hopelessness. The song begins with the line "Mis gritos no se oyen" which translates to "My screams cannot be heard." This sets the tone for the rest of the song, which describes a feeling of being trapped and unable to escape from one's own thoughts and emotions. The singer says that they cannot look at the light and that their lips are open but unable to form words.
The chorus of the song talks about ways to cope with this sense of despair. The singer says that crying can be replaced with singing and that to escape, one must bleed. This suggests that the only way to deal with this kind of pain is to embrace it and let it out. The line "Para sentir hay que matar" which translates to "To feel, one must kill" adds to the idea that sometimes in order to feel alive, we must go through pain and suffering.
Overall, "Sin Respiración" is a powerful and emotional song that speaks to the struggles many people face with their mental health. It encourages listeners to embrace their pain and let it out, rather than keeping it bottled up inside.
