Colorblind
Say Anything Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here comes the sadness that I miss so much
That lonely aching comes from every touch
I've grown accustomed to the grays and blacks
Because they're always coming back
Coming back

Sit down for supper, won't you dine with me
Or can't you handle seeing all I see
I've grown to colorblind to cease my bitching
And I've grown to love the pain

...
And I move too slow
and I think too fast
and the first rainbow
I see will be the last.
...

Here comes a view I've seen a million times
Here comes a boring song with thoughtless rhymes
I know you're sick of me so tell me here
Because you could have been the one
To make it all disappear.

...
But I move too slow
and I think too fast
and the first rainbow
I see will be the last.
Too slow
and I think too fast
and the first rainbow
I see will be the last

One , two, three, four...

But I move too slow
and I think too fast
and the first rainbow
I see will be the last.
Too slow
and I think too fast
and the first rainbow
I feel will be the last (2x)

It will be the last...

Overall Meaning

The song "Colorblind" by Say Anything reveals the depth of the inner turmoil that the singer is going through. The lyrics reveal the pain of the singer who has become used to living his life in black, white and grey colors. He's grown accustomed to feeling a sense of loneliness and emotional pain. The singer states that he's grown to be colorblind to cease his constant complaining about life. These lines reveal that the singer is battling with a dark and heavy feeling of depression, which has infused his life with a sense of emptiness and hopelessness.

The lyrics suggest that the singer understands how the mundane and the ordinary have become a part of his life, and he has learned to tolerate them. The song describes how the singer's understanding of the world has become so distorted that he's unable to appreciate beauty and positivity. The line, "But I move too slow and I think too fast, and the first rainbow I see will be the last," shows how the singer has lost hope and the ability to see beyond his pain.

In conclusion, "Colorblind" is a powerful expression of a person struggling with the harsh realities of life. It highlights how depression can draw a person into an abyss of darkness, and how it can warp one's perception of the world. The lyrics are a poignant reminder that we need to be sensitive to the people around us and offer help when they're battling their inner demons.

Sometimes my friends think I'm weird that I listen to these guys.. but honestly Say Anything understands me more then most people ever will. They have deep songs. They aren't the same typical main stream stuff that plays over and over again. They are original. That's why I like them.
