Born and raised in Troy, New York, Rowe started playing music at an early age. He received a bass guitar from his father on his 12th birthday and performed in a local band. After receiving an acoustic guitar as a gift from his uncle, Rowe began playing solo.
Since 2003, Rowe played locally in his hometown at open mics, bars and cafes. He began playing with percussionist Marco Haber , who played on a few tracks on his first album 27. Shortly thereafter they began playing under the name Mudfunk and recorded a live album, Live at the Grind, as well as a single of Wrong Side Of The Bed. The latter would be re-recorded for Sean's solo album, Magic, without Haber and with different instrumentation. Sean Rowe now records for ANTI- Records.
The Lonely Maze
Sean Rowe Lyrics

But I've seen the universe in a blade of grass
Oh I've built my questions a raft
And I send them floating there on a lake of glass
And though this weight is like a stone
It is hard to drop the things I've come to know
Oh my mind is lost to the ground
Oh how I've been a thief with my voice
While all the leaves just sing the truth out loud
Take this mask and burn my page
And I will leave my wallet in that lonely maze
In Sean Rowe's "The Lonely Maze," the lyrics speak to the struggle of finding oneself in this vast universe. Rowe states that he will not be able to reach the moon, but he acknowledges that he has seen the universe in a blade of grass. This lyric indicates that Rowe understands that small things in life can bring immense beauty and meaning. He then mentions that he has built his questions a raft and sends them out on a lake of glass. The imagery of his questions floating on a lake symbolizes the act of letting go and accepting that not all questions have answers. He acknowledges that though the weight of his questions feels like a stone, it is difficult to let go of the things he has come to know.
The next verse symbolizes the internal struggle one faces when trying to find their voice amidst all the external noise. Rowe compares his lost mind to the crickets lost against the highway sound. The crickets represent his thoughts and ideas, while the highway sound represents the constant distractions around him. Despite the struggle to find his own voice, Rowe acknowledges his past mistakes of being a thief with his voice. This may imply that he has spoken words without considering their impact or truthfulness. He then concludes the song with a metaphorical act of surrender by asking someone to take his mask and burn his page, leaving his wallet in that lonely maze. This verse could represent the act of letting go of one's ego and surrendering to the unknown.

Oh I'll never get to the moon
I know that achieving my unrealistic goals is unlikely
But I've seen the universe in a blade of grass
Although I can't reach my ultimate goal, I've found beauty in the small things
Oh I've built my questions a raft
I've created a solution for my unanswered inquiries
And I send them floating there on a lake of glass
I let my questions drift and try not to obsess over finding the answers
And though this weight is like a stone
The burden I carry feels incredibly heavy
It is hard to drop the things I've come to know
It's difficult to let go of what I've learned and accepted as true
Oh my mind is lost to the ground
I'm too focused on what's happening around me, and not enough on what's happening inside my mind
Like the crickets are lost against the highway sound
My thoughts are drowned out by the noise of everyday life
Oh how I've been a thief with my voice
I've not always used my words truthfully, and have been dishonest
While all the leaves just sing the truth out loud
Nature doesn't have to deceive - everything it does is truthful and without pretense
Take this mask and burn my page
I want to shed my false identity and start anew
And I will leave my wallet in that lonely maze
I'll leave behind my worldly possessions and face my journey alone
