I have always been in a difficult situation in life, commonly referred to as the dog house and that is where I belong.

Now my mom an' dad broke up when I was 4 years old
My family broke apart when I was very young, which brought me a lot of pain and difficulty.

When I was seven she went and got herself another man; it was hell, y'all
My mother remarried when I was seven, and it made things worse for me, causing immense pain and hardships.

I left home 'fore I was 14 years of age; I figured I'd do better on my own
I left home at a very young age, hoping to find a better life on my own, away from the difficulties experienced in my family life.

But then followed eleven years of bumb'lin' around and livin' kinda hand-in-mouth
The following 11 years of my life were rough, living hand-to-mouth, barely making ends meet.

Sometimes gettin' locked up an' somet- sometimes just goin' cold and hungry
Life was a struggle, and there were times I ended up in jail or was forced to endure hunger and homelessness.

I didn't have me no real school education,
I had no formal education and did not attend school.

So what in the hell what I was gonna be able to do?
It was challenging to determine what to do in life without formal education or skills.

But I always did pick on the guitar; I used to put the hat out for spare change
However, I found solace in playing the guitar, and I used to perform on the streets in exchange for spare change.

But now I'm makin' this here record and I'm still tryin' to get your spare change
Currently, I am recording music, and though I have gained some success, I am still struggling financially.

I don't know why went wrong but it ain't bad now
It is unclear where things went astray, but currently, things are looking up, and it isn't so bad.

And I just keep playin' my dog house music
I continue to play my music, which draws from my experiences in the Dog House.
