Love Her
Seether Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I met a girl, who hated the world
She used her body to sell her soul
Every town, they break her in pain
Tear out her heart and leave her in pain

I never found out how she survived
All of the sadness she kept inside
I never found out how she could lie
The smile on her face
And the scratches she'd hide

You could love her
If you pay
You could have her, everyday
You could love her if you pray
You could have her, every way

Down on her knees
She wept on the floor
This hopeless life, she wanted no more
Dead in her mind
And cold to the bone
She opened her eyes
And saw she was alone

She never found out how much I tried
All of the sadness she kept, made me blind
She never found out how much I cried
Held her so tight, on the night that she died

You could love her
If you pay
You could have her, everyday
You could love her if you pray
You could have her, every way

I never found out how she survived
A life with lies, is a life with denial
I never found out how she could lie
Love on her face, and the darkness inside

You could love her
If you pay
You could have her, everyday
You could love her if you pray
You could have her, everyway

You could love her
If you pay
You could have her, everyday

You could love her if you pray
You could have her, everyway

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Seether's Love Her tell a story about a girl who seems to have given up on life, and has resorted to selling her body in a bid to survive. The song paints a picture of a girl who is broken and vulnerable, used and abused by men in every town she visits. The extent of her pain is evident in the lyrics, "Tear out her heart and leave her in pain" and "Dead in her mind and cold to the bone." The singer expresses his sadness and frustration at not being able to save her, despite his efforts to reach out to her. He sings about the "smile on her face and the scratches she'd hide," revealing the girl's ability to hide the darkness that was clearly consuming her from everyone around her.

The refrain, "You could love her if you pay, you could have her every day, you could love her if you pray, you could have her every way," is a commentary on the girl's plight. It suggests that anyone can have her, as long as they pay the price. The line, "Love on her face and the darkness inside," speaks to how the girl is trying to put up a brave front even as she is in deep suffering.

Overall, Love Her is a poignant commentary on the plight of vulnerable girls who are often exploited and abused by society. It also speaks to the human desire to save those we love, and the pain that comes with not being able to.

Anyone who feels like this, I'm here for you, and despite never meeting me, you now have someone who loves you! If I can do something about it, even if only through spirit, I will.

@whatsthetruth_review

This song is for women and girls like me who grew up loveless and has abandonment issues but we keep moving forward.
