Wasteland
Seether Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

At the end of the day
You're so soft spoken
Don't hang your head for me
Nobody seems to believe in the reasons you feel so lonely
Nobody seems to accept them the way that I do
Oh

This teenage wasteland of ours
I feel too much

I remember the way you left me broken
Don't shed a tear for me
Nobody seems to be willing to save me from purgatory
Nobody seems to be able to shed the treadwheel
Oh

This teenage wasteland of ours
I feel too much
This drug won't take on for hours
I need this crutch

Say something, say something
Say something, say something now
Say something, say something
Say something, say something
Now

This teenage wasteland of ours
I feel too much
This drug won't take on for hours
I need this crutch

Now
I need this crutch

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Seether's song "Wasteland" delve into themes of loneliness, despair, and the search for something to numb the pain. The song begins with the singer acknowledging the soft-spoken nature of the person they address, encouraging them not to feel ashamed or downcast. The singer acknowledges that nobody seems to understand or accept the reasons behind this person's loneliness, but they do. There is a sense of empathy and deep connection between the singer and this person.

The term "teenage wasteland" denotes a feeling of being lost and trapped, representing a state of emotional turmoil and confusion. The singer expresses that they feel too much, suggesting an overwhelming intensity of emotions. The second verse emphasizes the lingering pain caused by the person's departure, with the singer asking them not to cry for them. They feel trapped in a state of purgatory, longing for someone to save them. The reference to the treadwheel symbolizes being stuck in a cycle of repetitiveness and suffering.

The chorus repeats the idea of the "teenage wasteland," highlighting the singer's overpowering emotions. The mention of "this drug" can be interpreted as a metaphor for seeking an escape or a way to numb emotional pain. They need this crutch to cope with the overwhelming feelings. The song ends with a plea for the person to speak up, to break the silence and potentially find solace or understanding.

Overall, "Wasteland" explores the struggles of loneliness, the yearning for connection, and the search for an escape from emotional turmoil. It depicts a deep understanding between the singer and the person they address, where they share a sense of isolation and turn to vices to cope.

@@BlkHwkDwn63 Sure, imagine God, in this realm, THE FATHER, Son, and Holy Ghost, had changed. Consider that THE FATHER, and HIS Son are restricted, and that THE Holy Ghost is infinite and that they're are other universes.

Now imagine a scenario, where a kingdom known as hell, run by Michael's fallen son lucifer, who was Michael's favorite son, who attempted to kill his Father, and his Father's FATHER, to take over Heaven, because he liked the place so much, and was deceived by the previous satan or dracula, that he could do so, only to fall to Earth like lightening, and be scooped up the vultures in hell.... that is to say was bit. Now imagine that 2,000 years after being scooped up, lucifer ran a successful coup in hell, having learned from his unsuccessful coup in Heaven, and took the kingdom over to become the prince of darkness.

Now imagine in the past where lucifer would get a lot of mileage out of God by threatening to harm Christians in hell, lust through Avicci, that is to avenge seven fold, where God would always consider what these Christians had been through their first lives, and to never judge a man, until you walked a mile in his shoes, as you never truly understand someone, until you've been what they've been through, from within the life and host that they lived.

Now imagine enough time had past, where God changed, and decided that hostages were no longer relevant, and that lucifer fallen son was to be viewed as a bottle cap, the fallen with a higher place than their 5,000 year old twat Egyptian little angels were to be viewed as paper clips, the Egyptian twats were to viewed as lint, the 2,000 year old servants were to be viewed as dust mites, and anything less than that, that was from the underworld was to be viewed as insects. Now consider that God would sacrifice His entire Kingdom, including Himself in His Angel form, with only 10% of THE FATHER and 10% of Heavener's left in existence after nuking hell with heaven's nuclear silo - not federation silo - Heaven's gates open and Heaven nukes hell - and then to exterminate lust through Avicci with no hostages, massive collateral damage, no delineation between lust through Avicci between any lifeform and THE FATHER HIMSELF in limbo, where all satanic life in limbo would be exterminated.....

In a preemptive plan like that with trillions of angels dead before Peru..... how fucking pissed off do you think God would be listening to these insects on Michael's property Earth.... and Michael's 12,000 year old servants property.... many of whom are billionaires..... how fucking pissed off do you think Michael, HIS FATHER, and God's entire army would be listening to these insects in Halloween costumes strike poses in a bleeping Amway frame up on Michael's property

When you die in spirit you exist in another universe and you start over with no memory of what happened, but your spirit moves on.

The humans on Earth are going to be protected, baptized and sent to Heaven. We'll give this new blood an overt warning, turn them back and take 50% of them back to Heaven. We'll exterminate the rest in spirit.

There's no discussion.

so ...and im combining responses--- we have the ideas of parental responsibility and weak kids. What exactly is weak about them? What does it mean to be soft? why did the parents raise them that way? or were the parents out of the picture? like in prison..or divorced and prohibited...or having to work so hard and for so many hours that they never get to see their kids...so television raises them? im not trying to be an ass here but i think this is important and critical to the strength of our country..you all seem like ressonsble people who arent so insecure that they cant discuss and disagree on issues and be civil. so many ..mostly adults seem to have trouble with that. And i think having to be "right" all.te tim
e is 1- unrealistic and 2- weak. its all relative. you want your pillow.hard? And as far as kids go i.agree there are some weak ass parents ouf there but rather than put down the kids spend.that time instead volunteering to teach or coach or simply spend some time getting ti know the neighborhood kids. even with good.parents kids need other aduots

I adults.to.mentor.them. I.can tell you this- We adults arent showing them good citizen skills. Seether helps me let anger out in a ssfe controlled manner but they arent always " hard..it takes all differfxnt ways of being to live a fully human life. good luck to all

I love how consistent the band has stayed with their style! This literally sounds like it could have come out in 2005!

This is one secret that no rock band will ever match with Seether. These guys have maintained their original sound undiluted over the years. This is a masterpiece of a song. It really hits home especially when you look at what is happening around us now. We are indeed in a wasteland

@diegoubarte5474
