You Know You're Right
Seether Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I will never promise to
I will never follow you
I will never bother you
Never speak a word again
I will crawl away for good
You wont be afraid of fear
No thought was put in to this
I always knew it would come to this
Things have never been so swell
I have never failed to feel
Pain
You know your right
I'm so warm and calm inside
I no longer have to hide
Let's talk about someone else
Steaming soup against her mouth
Nothing really bothers her
She just wants to love herself
I will move away from here
You wont be afraid of fear
No thought was put into this
I always knew to come like this
Things have never been so swell
I have never failed to feel
Pain
You know your right
The lyrics to Seether's song "You Know You're Right" are complex and open to interpretation. The song seems to be about someone who feels oppressed and wants to be left alone. The repeated refrain "I will never bother you" and "Never speak a word again" suggests that the singer is withdrawing from someone or something that has caused them pain.
The sense of resignation and apathy is reinforced by the line "No thought was put into this, I always knew it would come to this." It seems like the singer has given up on trying to fix whatever problem they've encountered and is simply accepting their fate.
The second half of the song seems to introduce a new character into the story - someone who is "warm and calm inside" and doesn't let anything bother them. The contrast between the two characters highlights the singer's dissatisfaction and makes them appear more vulnerable.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a feeling of hopelessness and a desire for escape. The repetitive structure of the song reinforces this, with the same phrases being repeated over and over again, creating a sense of inevitability and despair.

+Joel Elman I was listening to the original before I found this and I was thinking about how cool it would be if Seether covered it.

Seether are one of the few bands that can pull off a good nirvana cover
@888neptuune
In my opinion, I don't think it would have to sound like Nirvana in order for it to be a "good" cover. Sure, he executed the vocals extremely well, but I'd rather see a unique and different version of the song performed.
@clydeceniza2521
The Beatles too
@stevenmathis3464
Local H does a great job of doing Nirvana covers. Scott is a beast.
