Their music is a mix of rock, rap and electronic elements. Their first album, 'Stacked Up', was released in 1994 and was one of the first rap/rock crossover records and the band are widely regarded as being pioneers of the 'nu-metal' genre (Although the actual name and rise of the genre came about a number of years after 'Stacked Up's release) and are often attributed with the subsequent success of The Prodigy, who took rock and dance a step further.
They split up in 1999 and Heitham and John formed 'Lodestar', a less electronic, more melodic, metal orientated 4-piece in which Heitham sang throughout, rather than rapped. Lodestar created one superb self-titled album before themselves calling it a day.
In the meantime, Kerstin lead the vocals on the next Senser album 'Asylum' which had stronger dance roots, but still with the familiar thrashy guitar riffs. Although no where near as popular as Stacked Up, Asylum's closer affiliation with D&B spawned numerous remixes, some of which accompanied the main album itself, making it a 2-CD release.
In 2003, Senser reformed in the original line-up, to work on a compilation of their 2 90's albums. Their time together also spawned brand new material, released as the album 'Schematic' in 2004. The new album brought back the old sound from Stacked Up but with noticeable melodic and dance influences from Lodestar and the Senser 'Asylum' album.
A new album 'How To Do Battle' was released in September 2009, and Senser is currently on tour supporting the release.
The Key
Senser Lyrics

the pressure so strong
by chance it forms a key
for me and what I see is like a satellite in orbit.
So rich in colours and detail that I absorb it.
Probe my memory
to find a door to fit the key without trying.
Death defying rays,
Mapped out a track cruising on course.
File these feelings unknown
colours burn a heat and a sonic tone
each to its own shade as the future is made
by burning the the past in the moment
we come to call "now",
it's forever somehow.
Switching from lane to lane,
to left to right we ride
touch the other side,
touch the other side, c'mon.
Now you see words don't mean nothing
till I put them in lane,
they go down the track
and come straight back again.
Thoughts are immaterial
elastic, ethereal
coming out like rain-drops and then scatter
from form to anti-matter.
Dope is a beat coming like a ray of heat
from the kick drum
so move closer to get some.
Discommunicated, I'm initiated
by the touch of her lips.
A total eclipse for me to focus on
spiral on, dance in it, travel on,
and on and on...
Keep keeping on
until the break of dawn.
The Key by Senser is a song that explores the power of words and the effect they have on us. The first verse begins with the statement that sound slips from the singer's lips to form a word. The pressure is so strong that the word forms a key, which becomes a powerful enough tool to unlock a new way of seeing things. The key opens up a vision similar to a satellite in orbit, full of color and detail, which the singer is able to absorb.
The second verse delves into the idea that our thoughts and feelings are immaterial and elastic, constantly shifting between form and anti-matter. The lyrics describe how the beat of the music is like a ray of heat from the kick drum, and the singer feels initiated by the touch of someone's lips, leading to a total eclipse that helps them focus and spiral on.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of perseverance, encouraging the listener to keep going until the break of dawn despite the challenges that may arise. The song thus becomes a powerful ode to the transformative nature of words and music, offering a means of escape from the mundane and the ordinary.
