1, Shaggy (born October 22, 1969, in Kingston, Jamaica as Orville Richard Burrell), is a Jamaican reggae artist who takes his nickname from his shaggy hair. He is especially notable for his distinctive sub-baritone voice.
His family immigrated to the United States and they settled in the neighborhood of Flatbush, Brooklyn, located in New York City, New York, USA.
In 1988, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served during Operation Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War.
On his return from Iraq, he decided to pursue his music career and his first hit in 1993: "Oh Carolina", was a dancehall re-make of a ska hit by the Folkes Brothers. The same year, Shaggy appeared on Kenny Dope's hip hop album "The Unreleased Project". He worked together with producers such as Sting Intl., Don One (who cut his first track), Lloyd 'Spiderman' Campbell and Robert Livingston. He had further big hits, including "Boombastic" in 1995.
He then had a major comeback in 2001, featuring worldwide number-one hit singles "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel," the latter of which was built around Merrilee Rush's 1968 hit "Angel of the Morning" (which was remade in 1981 by Juice Newton). The album Hot Shot, from which those cuts came, would hit number one on the Billboard 200.
However, his 2002 release Lucky Day, and the 2005 album Clothes Drop failed to match Hot Shot's success.
Shaggy performed the theme for Showtime (film), a 2002 movie.
2, Shaggy, a swedish rock/blues rock band from the 1970's. Released one album, "Lessons for beginners"
Something Different
Shaggy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Let me hear you say, somebody say oh hoooo
A girl like you is like a brand new automobile drive any man crazy
You passing around my avenue again baby
Your style is so repetitious it's about time Shaggy and Wayne Wonder start to get vicious
(Wayne Wonder, Chorus)
Doing something different for a change
May not be sufficient but I'm doing just fine
(Shaggy)
When we do it different baby-love it is together
She want a rub a dub lover have her under cover
When we do it different baby love it is together
She want a rub a dub lover have her under cover
Baby love I admire the way you move the way you groove
I love the way you dance even when you step upon my shoes
It's my dream to sweep you off your feet and take you on a cruise
A romantic intersection I'm just here to pay my dues
Never see a girl that I love this right
It's kinda wicked it's kinda wild
Taking it easy under cool profile
You're so smooth and you're so mild
I don't care what your friends may say
I'm going to love you any way
Because they don't know about those days
When you gave good love to me downstairs
(Wayne Wonder, Chorus)
Doing something different for a change
What a sexy body girl I have you in my range
May not be sufficient but I'm doing just fine
(Shaggy)
Girl I love you I got to confess
My heart skip a beat I feel the pressure in my chest
Girl the way you got me going I wonder if you god bless
Are you a cut above the rest here to put me trough the test
I wouldn't mind love you up and give you nothing less
Your coca cola figure in that skin tight dress
Hold me in your
arms tonight and don't let me go
I'll whisper in your ear and tell you things you wanna know
In this song, Shaggy and Wayne Wonder are singing about a girl that they are both attracted to. They note that her body is like a brand new car, and it drives any man crazy. However, they also note that her style is a bit repetitive, and they want to do something different to spice things up. They talk about how they want to be her lover and have her under cover, and how they love the way she moves and grooves. They also note that they don't care what others say about her, and they will love her any way.
Overall, the song is about the desire for something new and exciting in a relationship. Shaggy and Wayne Wonder want to do something different to keep things interesting with this girl, and they want her to know that they love her no matter what anyone else says. The lyrics are playful and fun, with a focus on romance and attraction.
