According to his own account, in his youth his friends referred to him as "Dez, man" - thus creating his artistic pseudonym Desman. His self-titled breakthrough album in 2002 featured three top ten singles ("Shook", "Spread My Wings" and "Get Ready") on the Canadian charts. The album went on to achieve gold certification in Canada.
His follow up, Back for More (2005), with more sexual lyrics, reached number fifty on the Canadian airplay charts. His single from that album, "Let's Go", reached number six on the MuchMusic Countdown. He is currently signed with Sony BMG Music (Canada). Desman is also known for sporting the "sidehawk" hair style, a sort of diagonal mohawk. "Spread My Wings" was a featured song in the movie Kangaroo Jack. Desman was also spotted in the movie Honey alongside Jessica Alba, performing his song "Sexy".

Body like oh,
You don't even know.
You're a natural
And I like, I like..
Possibilities,
I'm gonna let you take the lead
Let me sit back,
Relax.
(Can I, Can I, Can I watch?)
(Can I, Can I, Can I watch?)
Don't let me disturb you, keep on doing what you do.
(Can I, Can I, Can I watch?)
(Can I, Can I, Can I watch?)
Lights, camera, action, girl you're pure perfection.
Gimme that,
Gimme that money,
Gimme that money, (money)
That money shot.
Gimme that,
Gimme that money,
Gimme that money, (money)

Best of both worlds,
Open minded girl.
You and her and her
Alright, alright.
Things are heating up,
Like the way you spread the love.
Oh, oh yea!

The lyrics to Shawn Desman's song "Moneyshot" are about the singer's enjoyment of watching someone perform sexually. The song is written from a voyeur's perspective, with the singer asking if they can watch and admiring the subject's talents. The lyrics describe the subject's body as "natural" and "pure perfection", indicating that the singer is thrilled with what they are seeing. The chorus is a repeated request for a "money shot", a term used in the porn industry to describe a climactic moment during a sexual act.
The song is controversial for its explicit subject matter and is not appropriate for all audiences. Some critics have argued that the lyrics are objectifying and degrading to women. However, others have praised the song for its catchy beat and bold lyrics.
Overall, "Moneyshot" is a provocative song that explores themes of voyeurism and sexual attraction. It is a complex and controversial work that offers insight into the darker side of human desire.
