It's gorgeous! One suggestion though, traditionally the bath and toilet should be in separate rooms. It's not always the case in modern homes but in traditional ones it is because the bath is respectful (not sure if that's the best word for it but it's the best I could think of)

Not only does it seem cleaner to me personally, but I have a big family in one bathroom. When someone knocks on your door to use the bathroom and ruins your peaceful bath, its annoying.

Emeraldeye14 : we have separate toilet rooms in modern homes and flats too. It is not necessarily respect per say. We think it unsanitary to use the toilet in the same place you clean yourself. Toilet room is for getting rid of this. Bathroom is for cleaning. The toilet is only in the same area if you rent a cheaper flat so there are some flats like that but are not popular. Most people including me like it separated.

A very lovely build! It looks great for your first Japanese style house. Some tips of you want to do more Japanese style homes in the future:
Toilets have their separate room from the bath and most Japanese people let their laundry dry, so there wouldn't likely be a dryer in their house.

For me it’s ‘cause it’s so different than what I’m used to here in Scandinavia

Europe has a lot of different culture ‘cause we’re so many countries so close together, but if you’re well-travelled like myself, you’ve already experienced a lot of it and seen a lot of similarities from country to country

Asia is completely different tho and it’s not a place that a lot of us can easily travel to as it costs a lot of money so it becomes really fascinating 👀

yes i love traditional japanese houses!!! i’ve tried some in the past but there isn’t really a lot of fitting stuff in the sims for it (oddly enough some of the most fitting things are from get together). the only like asian style stuff is from city living but it’s more in like pictures and a few decor items and they’re very different, like some are more south asian. my garden is very japanese-inspired because my dad has been gardening that way since the 90s (cherry blossoms, bamboo, maple) and he even used to have a koi pond in his old house. ahhhh i love this style

Japenese architecture is mainly influenced by Chinese buildings, but landscaping is much more important in China. Hi - did you decide on building Japanese inspired houses because of hanami or is it just a coincidence? In my opinion you did very well. I am no expert but as far as I have learned and experienced from my time in Tokyo is that traditional European gardens are very symmetrical and squared and traditional Japanese gardens use more round shapes. So I believe you did a very good job and I would love to watch more videos similar to this one. :)

To answer some of your concerns/questions :
You don’t need to have a genkan (yes. Your pronunciation was very close) is not necessary for a temple/traditional building since you take off your shoes before you step on the balcony area. But Yes. You can add genkans to sims homes but you need to make it a closed area inside of ur build, delete the foundation in that section and then delete the walls. // your garden area was really nice and mimics so well what we have. So yaaaay. 🙂🙂 And you’re the only person thus far that has used the pillows as seats. //. I think what you mean by “searching japanese interior”, is traditional japanese temples or traditional kyoto style homes. We have very modern homes now although still different styling to western countries. Its very minimal and european or american because that “other” is intriguing for us. So try searching that or just use the word 間取り for modern homes. It works if you type in english as well. With that said, toilets are separate from everything else in the bath area. Its unsanitary to do number 1&2 in the same place where you clean yourself. // I’ve said this in other #sakurasquad videos, so, I am happy to be represented in the game however be careful because I already feel this is culture misappropriation. I would like it to actually feel Japanese if that is what you are going for. I could nit-pick more things from your build but I don’t want to make you feel bad. And I know the game has its restrictions when making homes that aren’t American. ☹️ So please please please do more research and looking information before you do this. Ask around. Hey, you can ask me. I made sim videos too. 😂 I’m not a random person. I think you did a really good job for your first time and I hope you make another Japanese home in the future with the pointers I have given. 🙂
