Let Us Pray
Silent Civilian Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He's the chosen one, he will die in vein
And the price we'll pay for the sins at hand
Is impossible to ever comprehend
Now pray for the dead, pray for the living,
Pray for yourself, pray you're forgiven
Suffer the reign, those in defeat will rise again
Will to live is a strength unknown
For the pain set forth unto you
Bestow when the people rise up in arms again
Then the blood will flow in the streets again
Now pray for the dead, pray for the living,
Pray for yourself, pray you're forgiven
False offering, stained with deceit
Suffer the reign, those in defeat will rise again
The lyrics of Silent Civilian's song Let Us Pray talk about the tragic cycle of violence and how it is often a necessary evil to bring about change. The first two lines, "Blood must spill to inspire change, He's the chosen one, he will die in vein," suggest that while violence may be necessary, it is often at the cost of innocent lives. The reference to the "chosen one" dying in vain hints at the idea of martyrdom, where someone sacrifices themselves for a greater cause, but their death doesn't necessarily bring the desired change.
The third and fourth lines, "And the price we'll pay for the sins at hand, Is impossible to ever comprehend," acknowledge that the cost of violence is high, and it's hard to predict what its true impact will be. The chorus, "Now pray for the dead, pray for the living, Pray for yourself, pray you're forgiven," seems to be a call for redemption and forgiveness in the wake of such violence. It speaks to the idea that everyone is affected by violence, whether they are on the giving or receiving end of it.
The second verse talks about the idea of false offerings and deceit, suggesting that violence can often be a result of lies and betrayal. The following lines, "Suffer the reign, those in defeat will rise again, Will to live is a strength unknown," encourage resilience and the idea that even in defeat, there is hope for rising again. The last two lines of the song, "Then the blood will flow in the streets again. Now pray for the dead, pray for the living," serve as a warning to the eternal cycle of violence that can never truly be broken.
Overall, the lyrics of Let Us Pray offer a sobering commentary on the futility of violence and the need for redemption and forgiveness in the wake of tragedy.

I would love this whole album played at my funeral Haha just to see the look on people's faces, would be better to have Jonny Santos and co on a bandstand dressed like the band in from dusk till dawn lol
Have to say though super impressive album, there was me thinking nu metal died and an old king rises from the Ashes forms a new band and comes back better than ever.
Glad Jonny carried on singing love his voice and how he gets proper deep with his lyrics and the rifts make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, I literally loved every song and have been sat here shaking my head in disbelief one that i tracked down Jonny after thinking he disappeared after spineshank and two that these songs are just fucking sick!!
