Bárbara
Nunca é tarde
Nunca é demais
Onde estou?
Onde estás?
Meu amor...
(Gal Gosta)
O meu destino
É caminhar assim
Desesperada e nua
Sabendo que no fim da noite
Serei tua
(Simone)
Deixa eu te proteger
Do mau
Dos medos e da chuva
Acumulando de prazeres
Teu leito de Viúva
Bárbara
Bárbara
(Gal Costa)
Nunca é tarde
Nunca é demais
Onde estou?
Onde estás?
Meu amor...
Vem me buscar
(Simone e Gal Costa)
Vamos ceder enfim
A tentação das nossas
Bocas cruas
E mergulhar no poço escuro
De nós duas
Vamos viver agonizando
Uma paixão vadia
Maravilhosa e transbordante
Feito uma hemorragia
Bárbara
Bárbara
Nunca é tarde
Nunca é demais
The song "Bárbara" by Simone and Gal Costa is a sensual ballad about two women expressing their love for each other. The lyrics start by asking where their love is and asking each other to come and find them. They go on to describe their passion as something that can't be denied or avoided and that they are willing to live with the anguish of their forbidden love. The lyrics then describe a desire to protect each other and make a bed of pleasures for them to share. The chorus repeats the idea that it's never too late to find love.
The second verse talks about one of the women being destitute and desperate but naked and willing to give in to her desires. The other woman wants to protect her from the bad things in life and be her "widow's shelter." The chorus repeats, followed by a section where they both give in to their raw desires and plunge into the darkness of their love. They know that it is not socially acceptable, but they can't control their feelings.
Overall, "Bárbara" is a song about the beauty and pain of forbidden love. It portrays two women in a same-sex relationship who are struggling with their society's expectations and their own emotions.
