Lazy Lately
Simple Minds Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Laid by the sea
A lifetime of promises
Translated to me
It's been hard, hard, hard
It's been so hard
Easy to place easy to fake
When I don't know about
She's far too young
If you got something to say
It's easy to know
That you'll find me awake
Leave me alone
Heat of a gun
Leads me to know, you've been
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
Laid by the plain
Raised by the sea
Feels like a hologram, a halo over me
It's been high, high high
Getting oh so high
Raised by love
Faced by the sea
A scene all alone
So I know why you come
It's been high, high
Getting oh so high
If you got something to say
It's easy to know that
You'll find me awake
Leave me alone
The heat of a gun
Leads me to know, you've been
Lazy lately, lazily
If you got something to say
See me alone
You can find me awake
Leave me alone
The heat of a gun
Leads me to know, you've been
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
If you got something to say
Lazy lately
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
Lazy lately, lazily
The song "Lazy Lately" by Simple Minds is a reflective tune about experiencing a lifetime of promises, being raised near the sea, and feeling conflicted about love. The lyrics reflect the inner turmoil and hardships of the singer as they lay by the sea alone. The repetition of "It's been hard, hard, hard" and "It's been high, high, high" indicates that the singer is experiencing an emotional rollercoaster. The use of the phrase "Easy to place, easy to fake" shows the struggle to remain authentic and genuine in the face of adversity.
The singer is aware of the chaos around them as they say "if you got something to say, it's easy to know that you'll find me awake." This suggests they are waiting to hear something important or impactful, while the heat of the gun leads the singer to believe that it is something dangerous or deadly. The lyrics, "She's far too young," indicate the singer's struggles with love and age, perhaps even the struggle of a love triangle.
In conclusion, "Lazy Lately" is a song with haunting lyrics that reflect the tough emotional journey of the singer, a person struggling with love, heartbreak, and existential confusion.
