Into Another
Skid Row Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Slowly I heal the love that's found it's way
Onto another path in times of change
Crossing a bridge unknown
Hoping our strength will hold
Should they both let go then let me lay, let me lay

Show me a sign
To a light that shines
One direction into another
Sheltered peace of mind

Somewhere I lost a piece of memory
Somehow I know my legs will carry me
Searchin' for circles end
Hoping the wounds will mend
Should this scar, then it was meant to be

Show me a sign
To a light that shines
One direction into another
Sheltered peace of mind

Show me a sign
To a light that shines
One direction into another
Sheltered peace of mind

Show me a sign
To a light that shines

One direction into another
Sheltered peace of mind, oh yeah

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Skid Row's song "Into Another" speak to the process of healing and moving on from a past relationship. The first verse describes the singer's journey towards accepting that their love for someone has taken a different path. They are crossing a bridge into the unknown and hoping that the strength of both parties will hold, but if not, they're willing to lay down their love. The second verse speaks to the singer's resolve to move forward and find a sense of peace. They acknowledge that they have lost a part of themselves in the process, but they are confident that they will find it again. They are searching for the end of a painful journey, hoping that their wounds will heal and that any scars will make sense in the context of their journey.

The chorus, "Show me a sign to a light that shines, one direction into another, sheltered peace of mind," is a plea for guidance and clarity. The singer is looking for a new direction that will lead them to peace, and they are asking for a sign to guide them towards it. The repetition of the lines emphasizes the importance of this search for the singer.

Overall, the lyrics to "Into Another" speak to the human experience of moving on from a relationship and the journey towards finding peace and healing. The imagery of crossing a bridge into the unknown, searching for the end of a painful journey, and asking for a sign to guide the way are all powerful metaphors that convey the emotional weight of this experience.

It's weird to hear all the late 80's rock/metal bands go through their "grunge-era" phase. Everything got less fun and just more heavy-hearted.

Metalheart33

They tackled lots of heavy material before songs like Wasted Time, Quicksand Jesus and In a Darkened Room are much heavier than this! I love Subhuman Race.... it's a great album

@Spy Retto absolutely right. The true seattle grunge bands were authentic, hard rock/punk acts that cut their teeth doing what they loved doing. Remember, this sound was existing in the 80's, it just didn;t go mainstream until early 1992.

As a musician, Screaming Trees, AIC (1992 onwards), L7, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, mother love bone, melvins, green river, love battery, tAD, etc, fantastic energy filled music

And it wasnt necessary for such great bands to change their sounds just for te heck of it, they should have carried on just the way they were,

@Tony's Music Agreed. And Subhuman Race was a good album, more consistent than Slave which had about 5-6 great songs. The rest just about sucked.
