1) … Read Full Bio ↴There are at least three artists named Slaughter on last.fm:
1) Slaughter was a Canadian death/thrash metal band. They were formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1984 and briefly featured Chuck Schuldiner on guitar in 1986. Originally, they released one full-length called "Strappado" and several demos. Slaughter was disbanded from 1989 to 1995 but returned in 1996 to record a cover of Celtic Frost’s “Dethroned Emperor” for a tribute album called “In Memory of Celtic Frost”. They then re-released “Strappado” and a new compilation album called Not Dead Yet / Paranormal under the Nuclear Blast record label in 2001. They released Not Dead Yet in 2011 and Meatcleaver in 2013.

2) Slaughter is an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, by lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum. The band reached stardom in 1990 with their first album Stick It to Ya, which spawned several hit singles including "Up All Night", "Spend My Life", "Mad About You" and "Fly to the Angels". The album reached double platinum status in the United States. The band remains a steady act in national tours, mainly in the Rock Never Stops Tour which features several bands of the same era.
The band formed in 1988 with Mark Slaughter on vocals, Dana Strum as bassist, Tim Kelly on guitars and Blas Elias on drums. Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum had previously played together in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Their debut album Stick It To Ya saw 3 songs hit the Billboard Hot 100: "Fly To the Angels (#19)", "Up All Night (#27)", and "Spend My Life (#39)".
Unlike many of the bands from the era who were suddenly phased out in the wake of the alternative movement, Slaughter remained intact and continued to produce new records. In 1992, the released their second album, titled The Wild Life. It had the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Real Love (#69)" and was certified platinum.
The band planned to dedicate themselves to their next album. However, in 1993 guitarist Tim Kelly was arrested for charges of drug trafficking, while bassist Dana Strum had a motorcycle accident that injured his playing hand. This delayed the recording of the album, but they kept working on it while Kelly was meeting with attorneys and Strum was rehabilitating. They finished the recording on February 1994 when Strum was completely rehabilitated.
At this time, they negotiated to be released from their label and signed with CMC Records. In 1995, they finally released Fear No Evil. Despite little success in the US, the album did well in Japan. Guitarist Dave Marshall (ex-Vince Neil band) had to fill in for Kelly at times, due to his legal problems.
Some time later, Kelly's legal troubles ended and the band committed to their next album. In 1997, they followed it with Revolution. This album featured a more eclectic and psychedelic sound, but again it was mostly ignored by the media.
In February 5, 1998, tragedy struck when guitarist Tim Kelly was killed in an auto accident in the Arizona desert. This deeply affected the band, but they were committed to continue with the band. Again, guitarist Dave Marshall briefly performed as a touring guitarist for Slaughter in Japan. In 1999, they hired Jeff Blando as Kelly's replacement and began working on their next album. A live album titled Eternal Live was released featuring some of the band's last performances with Kelly.
In 1999, they resurged with Back to Reality, featuring Blando as the new guitarist. Blando was previously in Left For Dead and Saigon Kick. Since then, Slaughter continues to play many rock package tours with other acts that saw prominence during the glam era of the late 1980s and very early 1990s.
During the summer of 1999, while on the "Rock Never Stops Tour" (which included Ted Nugent and Night Ranger), Slaughter enjoyed a brief commercial resurgence, and had the "#1 Track" on the "VH-1" CD "Power Ballads" with "Fly To The Angels" and "Up All Night" became the "#1 Track" on Rhino Records "Hard Hitters," and also took part in the Summer 2000 "Poison, Cinderella, Dokken and Slaughter" tour.
In 2001 Slaughter was a part of the "Voices of Metal" tour featuring Vince Neil (of Mötley Crüe), Ratt, and Vixen.
Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum's former Vinnie Vincent Invasion bandmate Bobby Rock has played as a touring drummer for Slaughter, filling in for Blas Elias on some shows of the Rock Never Stops Tour.
In April of 2004, Slaughter released a DVD-A entitled Then and Now that features 12 songs and 50 rare photos of the band over the years. Slaughter will also have a DVD that features all of the music videos and behind the scenes footage during the 2004 season.

Ooh, yeah
Sitting home by yourself with the TV on
You know you got nothing better to do
And then all of a sudden get a feeling inside
There's a whole party waiting for you
Your friends they go real far
(They go real far)
Now you're searching for the time of your life
And you'll never, never know where you are
It's a wild life that's in your veins
You'll feel like an animal that's been uncaged
You live the wild life
(Wild life)
It's a wild, wild life, right
Come on and live it
Ooh, yeah
Now you're hanging with the pact out seeing the sights
Now everything's looking good to you
It's a fine line between fire and ice
But you're gonna break on through
You're crawling fast now with the wind in your hair
You know you can't get enough
(You can't get enough)
No matter what you see, no matter what you do
You know you'll never, never know where you are
It's a wild life that's in your veins
You'll feel like an animal that's been uncaged
You live the wild life
(Wild life)
It's a wild, wild life, right
So now you're in the jungle late at night
Your friends they go real far
(They go real far)
You'll be searching for the time of your life
But you'll never, never know where you are
It's a wild life, that's in your veins
You'll feel like an animal that's been uncaged
You live the wild life
(Wild life)
It's a wild, wild life
Wild, wild life
Wild, wild life
Wild, wild life
It's a wild, wild life
The lyrics to Slaughter's "The Wild Life" are about breaking free from the monotony of daily life and living life to the fullest. The song starts with a scenario where the listener is at home, alone, and bored. Suddenly, they have a feeling inside that there is a whole party waiting for them. The lyrics encourage the listener to embrace that feeling and venture out into the world. The jungle here represents the world outside of what the listener is used to; it's wild and unpredictable. The song implies that it's worth the risk to venture out into the wild because the listener will experience life in a way that they never would have if they hadn't taken the chance.
The idea of living a wild life, as expressed in the song, is about plunging into the unknown despite the potential risks. The lyrics describe the feeling of being free and living on the edge, where anything can happen. It's about feeling like an uncaged animal, ruled by your instincts rather than societal norms. Even though the lyrics warn that the listener will "never, never know where you are," the song insists that living a wild life is better than staying at home doing "nothing better."
Overall, the lyrics encourage the listener to embrace the wild side of life and take risks to experience something new. The song argues that living a wild life can be exhilarating, even if it is unpredictable, and it is a way to escape a mundanity that is all too easy to fall into.

Not my favorite Slaughter song...love Tim's solo (RIP)
This video reminds me of the Motley Crue videos from the 80's. LOL
She got the looks that KILL!
I saw Slaughter in Philadelphia twice. One was back when "Stick it to ya" just came out. Tim is from PA so there were a lot of his peeps there. Mark sounded awesome. There was only a handful of singers out there that could go toe to toe with Mark, his voice was so unusual and big, I swore they had his microphone down otherwise he would completely overpower the band!
Fast forward to about 2 1/2 years ago, when the came on stage I almost fell out, my heart dropped to my gut and both mine and my friend's mouths dropped. Our reactions were NOT because they were so good, but because we thought someone kidnapped the REAL Mark Slaughter and in place was his old, fat 3rd cousin who lives in a van down by the River. Not only did Mark look out of shape, but his voice...his beautiful, crisp, loud, awesome voice, was GONE. He couldn't hit any of the real high note he once had. I know he apparently had surgery on his throat like 15 years ago and that is a factor, but he couldn't even just sing the parts without the high notes! He was out of breath, I'm guessing from his weight.
Maybe it's me but, if I couldn't hit key notes anymore and was hitting clunkers and sounded like turtles mating and was actually gonna sing LIVE for people who paid a lot of money to be there, I would at least work with the band and maybe sing the songs in a lower key or something.
Fee was looking at the reaction of the crowd, thinking, ok, maybe it's just me, but, all the slutty girls who wormed their way up front obviously didn't care at all how Mark sounded and was just making fools of themselves showing their boobs and stuff. Then behind them, you had people like me, that were clearly STUNNED as much as I was and was doing like me and talking to people around them and asking each other, "WTF happened to these guys? "
Then the people in the back didn't care how they sounded or looked and kept making trips to the bar.
At the bar, I ran into someone who had been a friend of Tim Kelly's and was there to pretty much see how the band looked and sounded without Tim. He said they were all so close and got along until about 2 years before Tim's death. Mark and Dana apparently were trying to get rid of Tim. They treated him like crap, wouldn't listen to any songs he wrote, were avoiding him, etc..they thought it was because of Tim's and the tour manager were arrested for drugs. But since that had been settled and Tim could now again tour with them, he couldn't figure out why they were being like that. This guy said that Slaughter was having MAJOR financial problems, and possibly when Tim and the tour manager got arrested, they were doing it for money for the band. Lets face it, it's not the 80-90's anymore so once upon a time they sold out arenas and stuff, but now back playing in bars and clubs. So what was supposingly happening was Mark and Dana started charging fans pretty large amounts of money to sign autographs, meet the band for a 3 minute "meet and greet" and fans were being let into their tour van for like 15 minutes if they pay for gas or the bus rental. Tim hated all that and started to make waves about it all, and he wanted NO PARTS of any of it. Mark and Dana told Tim's guitar roadie to make sure he can play Tim's parts because you never know what could happen. Then Tim got in the accident and died. The family was mad because they felt Tim's death was being used for publicity and sympathy. They were supposed to be collecting money for Tim's charity he worked with and to help the family out. This guy said neither the charity or family got a dime from them!! Calls from the family were never answered and messages never returned. Yet, they were doing all these interviews and talking about their best friend being killed and how the band won't be the same without him.
LOL what a joke, just a day or so after Tim died, the guitar roadie jumped right in and they went on tour like nothing ever happened.
I have been a fan of Mark's since he was fronting that Drag Queen Vinny Vincent's group and from what I saw, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. But I'm old enough know those guys are only showing what they want to show and are most likely douchebags in person. I don't want to believe all this, but This guy sounds on the up and up, besides, He gets nothing out of telling me all of this..
Oh well just another disappointment in life to out I suppose. 😕

I’ve always thought his playing is great. Awesome little fills/accents rhythmically and, as you said, very tasteful solos.
