1. Sloppy Seconds… Read Full Bio ↴There are two bands using the name Sloppy Seconds.
1. Sloppy Seconds are a Punk Rock band from Indianapolis. Their story began in 1985 at a weekend-long house party when singer B.A., bassist Bo'ba Jam, drummer Steve Sloppy, and guitarist Danny Roadkill (later replaced by Ace Hardwhere) set down their beers long enough to massacre a few cover tunes and wake up their neighbors.
After a short spell honing their original material and live intensity, the Sloppys released the debut album "Destroyed" in 1990. With each new release they have carved out a niche that targets themes close to their hearts: porn stars, parties, junk food, TV re-runs, beer blasts, comic books, strippers, B-Movies, 70's nostalgia, 80's cynicism, and 90's complacency.
2. Sloppy Seconds are a pair of non-dimensional time rabbits who strive to disolve notions of time and space through a 'sonic smudge' of intense noise coupled with visceral performance rituals. Named 1.7 and 5.2, these two rabbits deal with ideas of serialisation, subjectivity, shamanism, and quantum ontology, with a focus on creating a conflict and resolution within individual audience members regarding everything they believe to be true. Individual appearences are always different in form, but this simple thread of destroying time and space is present in all of their performances. Actions to date have included the smashing of clocks, the folding of paper, the defacing of maps, etc. Their sound has been compared to the likes of Drums Not Dead-era Liars, Lightning Bolt, Boredoms etc.
Active primarily in London, UK, they released Spit or Swallow? on Colour Ride in late 2008 and have played with Talibam!, Clunes, Horse Vomit, BBBlood, Team Brick, Cementimental, Kong, Selfish Cunt and others.

We play Fenders
We chop fish in kitchen blenders
We're a disgrace to our gender
We're the men!
Always together night and day
It makes our girlfriends think we're gay
We're the men!
The men will never let me down
The men will always be around
The men won't argue, scratch, or fight
The men won't say, "I've got a headache tonight"!
On Friday night we'll all jump in a car
And blow all our money at a go-go bar
Sober up for a week to do it over again because
We're the men!
We're twenty-one, but we act like we're ten
We're as immature as we've ever been
Maybe we'll grow up, but I don't know when because
We're the men!
We'll get together
Drink together
Sweat together
Stink together
Laugh together
Cry together
Live together
And die together!
We're the men
The lyrics of Sloppy Seconds's song "The Men" are a celebration of brotherhood and camaraderie among men who choose to form tight bonds with each other rather than conform to traditional societal expectations of masculinity. The song dismisses the idea that men must play football or engage in other stereotypically "masculine" activities, and instead emphasizes the importance of friendship and companionship.
The opening lines of the song, "Don't play football, We play Fenders" suggest that the members of the band are not interested in traditional notions of masculinity. Instead, they play guitars and make music, an activity that is often associated with a more artistic and alternative way of being a man. The next line, "We chop fish in kitchen blenders," is a playful reference to the idea that the men are not afraid to take on more domestic tasks, which are often viewed as "women's work."
The chorus of the song, "We're a disgrace to our gender, We're the men," again emphasizes the idea that the members of the band are not willing to conform to traditional notions of masculinity. They view themselves as rebels who are breaking free from the expectations placed upon men by society.
The second verse celebrates the bond shared between the members of the band, which is so strong that it often makes their girlfriends think they're gay. However, the members of the band don't care about what their girlfriends or anyone else thinks because they value their friendship above all else. The lyrics "But who needs women when you've got friends? We're the men!" suggest that the camaraderie among the band members is more important to them than any romantic relationship.
The song continues to celebrate the bond shared between the men in subsequent verses, with lines like "The men will never let me down" and "The men won't argue, scratch, or fight" suggesting that the members of the band have an unwavering loyalty to each other.
Overall, "The Men" is a song that celebrates the importance of friendship and companionship among men, and challenges traditional notions of masculinity and what it means to be a man.
