14 Days
Slum Sociable Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't believe I can't come home
I'm gonna be a new concept: all alone
Some watch and leave it, I've never been so composed
And all I'm feelin' is wonderful

Best know that I've fought, it's what I'm meant for
Get back all the way, get back all the days
And when I'm over
Do you remember thinking all the way?
Would that be all it takes?

All the people I've known
Only some of them get worse as old
Tryin' to get you alone
I can tell that you've been workin', so
All the parts are what they show
Don't always hit the right mark
So call me over when you know
If it never happens, I'll let go

I can't agree with all the talk
I'd rather be there still hangin' on

Best know that I've fought, it's what I'm meant for
Get back all the way, get back all the days
And when I'm over
Do you remember thinking all the way?
Would that be all it takes?

All the people I've known
Only some of them get worse as old
Tryin' to get you alone
I can tell that you've been workin', so
All the parts are what they show
Don't always hit the right mark
So call me over when you know
If it never happens, I'll let go

All the people I've known
Only some of them get worse as old
Tryin' to get you alone
I can tell that you've been workin', so
All the parts are what they show
Don't always hit the right mark
So call me over when you know
If it never happens, I'll let go

If it never happens, I'll let go
If it never happens, I'll let go

Best know that I've fought, it's what I'm meant for
Get back all the way, get back all the days
And when I'm over

Do you remember thinking all the way?
Would that be all it takes?

Overall Meaning

Slum Sociable's song "14 Days" is a reflective and introspective song that brings to light the internal struggles of being alone and feeling isolated. It begins with the singer expressing disbelief and frustration about not being able to come home and feeling like a new concept of being all alone. However, instead of succumbing to melancholy, reflecting on his past struggles and fighting through them is what he is meant for, which he expresses in the lyrics "Best know that I've fought, it's what I'm meant for." Further, he is optimistic and feels wonderful in spite of feeling alone.

The second verse is about knowing people closely, and how only some people get worse as they age. The singer desires to be around the person he is singing to when they are alone, appreciating their effort and work, and understands that everyone has their flaws like all parts that make up oneself do not always hit the right mark. The chorus repeats, reminding the singer of the struggles he has overcome, and asks whether that would be enough to move on.

The song ends with not letting go of hope, even if something never happens. The lyrics capture the singer's growth, understanding that he is meant to overcome his struggles and internalize them as part of his identity. It's a journey of self-reflection, emotional transformation, and hope.
