The Beginning
Slut Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Floating lifeless in a void
Coming closer to the point
Where ambitions use to sleep
Floating hopeless in the shade
Of an old-time serenade
No more people do we need

No more voices here to sing
No more noises deafening
Let's be quiet, turn us off
This is the beginning of the end
We're strangers in a stranger's land
Let's make war instead of love

We're dancing to what none of you can hear
And we're shaking, shaking, shaking without fear

Someone borrow me a gun
For all the millions having fun
Let's make war instead of love
Let's make war instead of love

Let's make war instead of love
Let's make war instead of love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "The Beginning" by Slut are dark and unsettling, painting a picture of a bleak and hopeless world. The singer describes themselves as "floating lifeless in a void," suggesting a feeling of emptiness and aimlessness. They reference "ambitions" that used to exist but no longer do, implying a sense of loss or defeat. The tone is melancholy and resigned as they continue to describe their surroundings as "hopeless" and lacking in people or voices.

The chorus takes a darker turn, as the singer suggests that it's time to turn off all noise and make war instead of love. The implication is that love is dead or no longer important, and that violence is the only way forward. The phrase "Let's make war instead of love" repeats three times, underscoring the importance of this idea to the singer.

The closing lines ask for someone to "borrow me a gun" in order to join in this call to violence. The vibe of the song is ominous and unsettling, suggesting a world that has lost its way and sees no hope for the future.

I always beileved slut shaming was indeed a case of over sexualizing bodies, we don't wear clothes to get a rise out of other people we wear clothes to express ourselves and be comfortable

If a male friend of mine showed up in drag and was showing his midriff, he would be dress coded. Some dress codes are too strict but generally, they apply to both sexes equally. The reasons they have these dress codes is because the clothing is not suitable for the workplace. If you were in an office job, you wouldn’t show up in ripped jeans and a tube top. The same thing applies for school and for males and females.
