Hip Hop is just a hobby for some but for Smoke DZA, it is a way of life. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, DZA (real name Sean Pompey) was raised surrounded by music, though it wasnβt necessarily hip hop, βMy first exposure to music was through my Dad.β He reflects, βHe played his oldies every weekend and still does up to this day.β DZA was introduced to and fell in love with hip hop at a young age and began a journey that would lead him from dropping out of high school to being one of the hottest, most sought after unsigned rappers in the game today. βI was way too popular in high school,β DZA states, β I used to battle everyone whether it be in the lunchroom or in front of the school. I was way more interested in that, than attending classes.β His early creative processes started where many rappers do, with the lyrical genius of Notorious B.I.G., βI remember learning all of Biggieβs verses, writing them down and making my own renditions of the songs. After I got out [of] that phase I started crafting my own songs like "History" where I spoke about destroying any rapper lyrically and I wrote a song called "Music On My Side" which was an ode to any artist that influenced me to do music. Jay-Z, Biggie, Big L etc.β As DZAβs focus and talent grew, he began to release mixtapes, like the early Respeconize and even formed a group with a childhood friend call βSmoke & Numbersβ before striking out for solo success and Cinematic Music Group in 2005. Though his musical journey is not far removed from his early days in Harlem, DZA has recorded with the likes of Asher Roth, Big K.R.I.T., Devin The Dude and Curren$y to name a few. In the past two years he has released a steady stream of mixtapes to critical acclaim, Substance Abuse (2009), Substance Abuse 1.5: The Headstash (2010), and his most recent project, George Kush Da Button which is quickly making itβs way around the internet. DZA credits his longevity to creating laidback, honest music that people can vibe to and always staying true to the art of hip hop. With all of the disposable music threatening the culture of an art form he is trying to help preserve, Smoke DZA is a welcomed breath of fresh air that will make you grateful for the contact high.
Hip Hop artist based in Harlem, New York. Smoke Dza often references movies and marijuana with his slow laid back style of rap. His mixtape entitled "Substance Abuse" was released on December 1st 2009, Featuring: Devin the Dude, June Summers, Nipsey Hussle and many more. In the summer of 2010 he released another mixtape 'George Kush Da Button'
On April 11th he released another mixtape T.H.C. (The Hustler's Catalog)

Sweetness on the beat that Walter Payton flow
On track to be the best, what you pacing fo'?
Call plays, step back, pump fake and throw
Who dat? Drew Breezin' down the field?
The document is monumental shit, reel to reel
No huddle game plannin', my
Form outstanding, most haters commentators call them Pat Buchanans
Swinging lane to lane, gripping grain like a battle ax
Camera man, capture the future like it's here for me
While these cheerleaders cheer for me
We too hard to be crushed
Too gone to be stuck
Too fly to be touched
Too much to be us
So we, just let em do they thing
Cause we something like the A-team
And I ain't talking about they team
I'm talking Super Bowl great team
Undefeated all season
Champion shit, no Wheaties
Greetings
Greatest '72 Dolphins, 2010 Saints
We doing what they ain't
Say it ain't so
Double back, what you came for
Tryna mango matter fact where your bankrolls?
Make them niggas pay like T.O
Mike Irving with the lines, fuck niggas get your grind
Niggas know I get it in, Vince Lombardi
Award recipient, nigga DZA track flippa
That nigga like LT, run through competition smell me
Coming at you 3-D, betta' eat ya Wheaties
Brett Favre, I go hard, it's too easy
We too hard to be crushed
Too gone to be stuck
Too fly to be touched
Too much to be us
So we, just let em do they thing
Cause we something like the A-team
And I ain't talking about they team

Yea, John Taylor, just as nice as Jerry Rice
Still dump Gatorade on the coach and rock this ring
For the "un" let's sing, ya done ya thing
I seen it all from the bleachers, schoolin' them
Giving lesson plans to the teachers
All from behind the scenes
Pulling strings, out for one thing
Al Davis's just win babies, Lost Ark Raiders
At the airport early rocking the latest
From one of my two clothing lines, that's product placement
Ice cubes in my pocket too many drive Elway style I got this
We too hard to be crushed
Too gone to be stuck
Too fly to be touched
Too much to be us
So we, just let em do they thing
Cause we something like the A-team
And I ain't talking about they team

In Smoke DZA's "No Wheaties" song, he speaks of being the "epitome of greatness," likening himself to legendary football players. He compares his rap flow to that of running back Walter Payton. He also mentions quarterback Drew Brees, the '72 Dolphins, and the 2010 Saints. Smoke DZA raps about being too hard to be crushed, too fly to be touched, and too much to be ignored. He brags about his skills as a rapper and likens himself to famous football players, saying that he makes it look easy, like Brett Favre.
The song is full of football references and metaphors, but the primary message is one of excellence and accomplishment. Smoke DZA sees himself as a champion, and he won't settle for less. He's too talented and too driven to be held back by anyone. He's the "un," and he's done his thing, declaring that he's the best in the game.
