Pictures
Sneaky Sound System Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Light, of course,
Like a flicker in my left eye
Push, move,
Could be perfect if you walk by

I've got lots of pictures in my head,
You'd better not turn off the projector ... ooohhh
And I've got lots of pictures in my head,
You'd better not save them all for later

Maybe I, oh get me on fire,
Could take your picture, oh you could get one too
And maybe I, oh get me on fire!
But keep me on, don't switch me off ... ooohhh

You can't fight,
Oh what we do what we
Can't do it solo,
But you've got what tickles for me

I've got lots of pictures in my head,
You'd better not turn off the projector ... ooohhh
And I've got lots of pictures in my head,
You'd better not save them all for later

Maybe I, oh get me on fire,
Could take your picture, oh you could get one too
And maybe I, oh get me on fire,
But keep me on, don't switch me off ...

Maybe I, oh get me on fire,
Could take your picture, oh you could get one too
And maybe I, oh get me on fire,
But keep me on, don't switch me off ...

Keep me on, don't switch me off ...
Keep me on, don't switch me off ...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sneaky Sound System's song "Pictures" depict the excitement and anticipation of being in the presence of a loved one. The first verse begins with the mention of light, which can be interpreted as the feeling of attraction towards somebody. The second line of the verse, "Like a flicker in my left eye," adds to the idea of this initial spark of interest that one feels towards someone else. The next lines, "Push, move, could be perfect if you walk by," suggests that the anticipation and excitement only builds as the possibility of the two people actually coming into contact becomes more likely.

The chorus brings forth the idea of "pictures" being stored in one's head, almost like a mental photo album of moments spent with the loved one. The warning of "You'd better not turn off the projector" and "You'd better not save them all for later" suggests that these mental pictures are too valuable to let go of or forget. The repeated line of "Maybe I, oh get me on fire, could take your picture" is a metaphor for wanting to experience each moment with the person as if it was being captured in a photo.

The bridge of the song emphasizes the idea of needing the other person and not being able to do things alone. The line "But you've got what tickles for me" emphasizes the idea of a special connection.

Overall, the song's lyrics touch on the excitement, passion, and desire that come along with a strong attraction to somebody.
