Dying 4 Your Love
Snoh Aalegra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ooh-ooh, ah
Ooh-woah
Hmm-mm

Tell me how
Are we supposed to still be talkin' every day
When everything between us just completely changed?
Oh, why?
And tell me how
Am I supposed to go ahead and just erase
Every feelin', every memory we shared?
Oh, why?

'Cause I was dyin' for this love, this love (this love, this love)
Yeah, I was dyin' for your love, your love
So tell me, baby, do you want me like I want you?
Even if you did, you wouldn't say, I know you
Some nights I even think about if I should call you
'Cause I thought you were the one

'Cause I was dyin' for this love, this love (this love, this love)
Yeah, I was dyin' for your love, your love
So tell me, baby, do you want me like I want you?
Even if you did, you wouldn't say, I know you
Some nights I even think about if I should call you
'Cause I thought you were the one

So tell me how
How could you tell me that you love me by mistake?
Intoxicated via text, ain't you ashamed?
That's so wild
So how can I
Believe or trust in anything that you say
When you so easily regret it next day?
See, that ain't right

Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh
Oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh
Whoa-oh

I know nobody's perfect
And we are the way we are
But you know I don't deserve this
And I waited way too long

'Cause I been dyin' for this love, this love
Yeah, I been dyin' for your love, your love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Snoh Aalegra's song 'Dying 4 Your Love' speak to the pain and confusion that can occur in a relationship when one person's feelings are not reciprocated or when trust is broken. The song's chorus repeats the title phrase, emphasizing the intensity of the singer's desire for their partner's love, even as they realize that they may never receive it. The repeated use of the word "tell me" demonstrates the singer's need for understanding and closure, as they struggle to accept that the relationship has changed.

The first and second verses focus on the singer's confusion and frustration in the aftermath of a breakup or falling out. They question how it's possible to maintain a relationship when everything has changed, and wonder how they can let go of the memories they shared. The repetition of "oh, why?" emphasizes the singer's sense of despair and confusion, as they try to make sense of the situation. The bridge of the song brings up a specific incident that caused the relationship to end, suggesting that the singer's partner made a mistake that led to a loss of trust. The line "intoxicated via text, ain't you ashamed?" brings up issues of communication and transparency, and suggests that the singer's partner may not be taking their relationship seriously.

Overall, 'Dying 4 Your Love' is a song that speaks to the universal human experience of wanting something we can't have or struggling to let go of someone we care about. The repetition of the song's title emphasizes the intensity with which the singer desires their partner's love, even as they come to terms with the fact that they're unlikely to receive it. By calling out specific incidents of betrayal, the lyrics give voice to the singer's hurt and frustration, while the gentle melody and soft instrumental arrangement add a sense of vulnerability and longing to the song as a whole.

Stuck on someone who you're not sure if you should let go or still try again to fix things with them. The feeling of them being the one not going away, and no matter how much you think you're over them... It takes only a text, or a memory of them and you're back to square one dying for that love.
