The early Soliloquium releases were classic death/doom metal music, influenced by early Katatonia, Paradise Lost and October Tide. Time saw the band getting more experimental, incorporating elements from genres like shoegaze, post-rock and progressive rock. The band got signed and released debut full-length "An Empty Frame" in 2016 on U.S. label Transcending Records. The second album "Contemplations" came out in 2018.

In Affect
Soliloquium Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Recurring patterns of declining thought
An empty stare, a wandering mind
Slave to a rampant pathos, the laments of a weary soul
Unbound in pursuit to structure the intangible
I am the gravelike silence
I am the product of this white noise creation
Could never attune to distorted visions
An admission of the outcast, the consummate offense
I see myself drawn to fire as on film
I am the spectator of my own downfall
Searched and scoured rituals and empty deeds
In spite of my attempts, each vision is one of exit signs
No wordly comfort can rest the most active of minds
.
The lyrics to Soliloquium's song In Affect trouble the mind and cause a certain existential confusion within the listener. The verses paint a picture of a person lost in a conversation with themselves, with their thoughts echoing in their mind like a mesh of voices. The thoughts are repetitive and follow a pattern of decline, and the person finds themselves staring blankly and wandering. They become a slave to their emotions, to the point where they become the embodiment of silence - like the stillness of a grave. They are a product of the white noise, the ambient sounds that surround them.
Despite their attempts to find a calling or goal, they find themselves drawn to destruction, unable to align themselves with society's vision of achievement. They are the consummate offense, always at odds with the norm. Their mind, which is often active to the point of restlessness, cannot find solace in worldly comforts, and they are left to continue their search for meaning alone.
Soliloquium's lyrics, in this song, are a comment on the emptiness that many people feel in the modern world. The constant noise and patterns of society often leave people feeling lost and confused, unable to find their place. The song is a reminder to the listeners that they are not alone and that there are others who feel the same way.
