Solvent has been releasing his unique brand of synthesizer-pop music since 1997, and is best known for his releases on Morr Music (2001's Solvent City) and Ghostly International (2004's Apples & Synthesizers, 2005's Elevators & Oscillators). Solvent has created his own unique version of electro-pop: too elegant and sincere for the electroclash set, too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM. Along with some notable remixes including Soft Cell, Alter Ego, and Adult., Solvent has also contributed standout tracks to several influential electronica compilations in recent years, including Putting The Morr Back In Morrissey (Morr Music), Disco Nouveau (Ghostly International), and Misery Loves Company (Ersatz Audio). His songs have also been licensed to several high-profiles DJ mix CDs, including Sven Vath's Sound of the 5th Season (Cocoon), Dr. Lektroluv's Lektroluv 5 (541), and Death in Vegas's Fabriclive 23 (Fabric London). Today, Solvent is widely regarded in the underground electronica community as being at the forefront of electro-pop's return to form.
UK magazine The Wire recently described Solvent as part of a new generation of composers "gleefully blurring the lines" between modern techno and vintage techno-pop. Solvent currently records exclusively for Ghostly International, and has been touring extensively since 2004, having shared the stage with Adult., Legowelt, Bola, Junior Boys, Matthew Dear, Lusine, Lowfish, and others.
My Radio
Solvent Lyrics

When I loved you, my radio
You promised me so much, but now you've changed
You always played my favorite songs
Those robot-disco marathons
Inspired me to buy my first machines
You've changed and I don't know why
I felt betrayed, and so I turned
To television, yet I've yearned
For you, my radio, you complete me
You used to play my favorite tracks
Those basslines and synthetic claps
Oh, radio, I miss those sounds the most
You've changed
You've changed
You've changed and I don't know why
So strange you never said goodbye
Solvent's song "My Radio" tells a story of a relationship between the singer and their beloved radio. The lyrics suggest that the singer had a deep emotional connection with their radio, which made them feel inspired and complete. However, the relationship has changed, and the singer feels betrayed as the radio no longer plays their favorite songs. They feel lost without the radio as it was an essential part of their life.
The singer seems to be reminiscing about the good old days and feeling nostalgic. They describe how the radio played their favorite songs and inspired them to buy their first machines. However, they feel like the radio has betrayed them, and they do not know why. Despite turning to television, the singer misses the radio the most and yearns for its presence.
The overall theme of the song is betrayal, loss, and nostalgia. The singer feels betrayed by the radio that they were once so close to, and they feel lost without it. The song is a reflection of how people can become emotionally attached to objects or things and how the loss of those things can profoundly impact their lives.
