Apokalypsens ängel
Sorhin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sorhin's song Apokalypsens Ängel express a bleak worldview, in which death is omnipresent and inevitable. The opening lines suggest that astrological predictions offer no hope for life, only death. The verse then takes a turn to introspection, as the singer attests that death is not only behind them, but inside of them and coming towards them. This sense of fatalism continues as the singer describes life as an endless journey towards an unreachable dream, where even the love that is found along the way is a source of weakness and decay.

The chorus introduces a religious dimension to the song, as the singer invokes the figure of Hinhåle, a possibly invented deity. The plea to break with tradition indicates a desire to escape from the oppressive social norms that make life meaningless. The following verse borrows from Christian iconography, as the singer compares themselves to a shepherd leading their flock to the wolves. The last stanza returns to the theme of death, describing it as the mirror image of life, devoid of feelings and form. The singer longs for their fallen angel to lift them out of their pain and suffering, but it seems that they must bear death's mark both inside and outside of themselves.

The horoscope of time predicts death, not life. Death is behind us, death marches within us, and death will come before us.

Life is a long journey towards the visions where dreams take us. I wish your wings could carry both of us, my angel who fell into my heart. A dream within a dream, oh lord Hinhåle, break these customs. Soul and heart anchored in flesh, sorrow and pain deeply corrode me.

To love is to weaken, and to weaken is like accepting the verdict. I send you as sheep, helpless sheep among wolves. Life is meaningless, day and night, spring and summer, autumn and winter alike. I have not come with peace, but with steel, shining steel that wounds.

Life is a reflection of the downfall itself, without genuine feelings, without proper form. You, angel who fell into my heart, my angel with fragile wings. I carry the head of death both within and outside, as a symbol against human norms. I long for nothing more than for you to lead us out of the temple of pain.

To win a life is like losing one's pride, one's true self. You follow the principles of morality that you have so falsely learned. But oh, the night that will come, will take your last day. I have not come with peace, but with the end, an end without a world.

12. Just a HuMan, Weak.
13. To Give away Death, and to Welcome Death.

Just wanna clarify the wording is is a poetic swedish style without any context or "determined" form. It doesnt translate well. Especielly track 10. As an example should Its Wings but Sina means the persons Wings not a things or entitys wings.

The track listings are like punchlines. No operative context but can be interpeted.

So I will add a list of how a Swedish people would understand these words when read.

1. A mass of people or demons are marching into either a city/place or a fictive spot in history/minds.
2. This is the only thing Life will/has too/ promise: Death.
3. In the place where you can find everything that has been lost forgotten or desotroyed. In that place "Nothing" means "Everything".
4. The Angel that is bringing or is closely involved with the apocalypse.
5. The last remaining monunent, that may also be destroyed soon, has a look of Pride/rebellion.
6. I am telling you (Mother) Earth. You will be destroyed soon.
Song 5 and 6 are thematicly connected.
7. Same.
8. The Flower I had from my heart (can also mean love for another one, like Honey or Sunshine of my life). I put the same flower on your grave. (Flower and love mean the say or intent but love is materialied as the flower.)
9. Same but indefinate article. What then is described is actually a metaphor for mourning/grief. It is like a Night(mare) that wont end.
10. When Death is Reaching with Its Wings. Someone is dying very soon. Maybe Suicidal Thoughts?
11. Marching out. We are leaving now. The new Messiah. Is he jesus? Will he live/aka find meaning with his life/happyness again? Did he commit suicide? Left this world? Or left his suicidal mind?

As you see alot of poetic implications that gets lost in translation for a non Swedish Speaker.

Also the 2 Extra tracks means He think of himself as a very weak person. A pathetic Lifeform.
Next is about he Blames himself for causing someones death and ultimately kills himself. Suicidal thoughts are direct result of him blaming himself.
