Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This
Soul Rebels Brass Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
The lyrics of Soul Rebel Brass Band's cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This" are a reflection on the idea that everyone is seeking something in life, whether it be success, love or validation. The lyrics highlight a sense of disillusionment with how people interact in the world, with some people wanting to use others or be used by them, and others wanting to abuse or be abused. Amidst this, the refrain of "Sweet dreams are made of this, who am I to disagree?" suggests that despite the chaos and darkness in the world, people are still searching for something better.
Moreover, the lines "Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin' on" reiterate the idea that despite the struggles and setbacks one may face in life, they should hold onto their dreams and aspirations and continue moving forward. The repetition of these lines reflects a sense of determination and perseverance that runs throughout the song.
Overall, "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This" is a powerful commentary on the human condition, showcasing the ups and downs that come with the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment.

I discovered this song on the Worcester Mass jazz station while on the highway. What resulted was a one man dance party in the front seat. Everybody thought I was crazy, but the groove was so good that it didn't matter. So thanks for that Soul Rebels.
