Having not one, but two female lead singers in Christine from Luxembourg/Denmark and Angel from Nigeria backed up by experienced musicians, South Haven is nowhere near your standard rock band. That special mix between Angels soulful vocals and Christine's raw emotional power gives the band an edge that is needed in female fronted rock music.
The producers working on this album from the get-go is something else. Jacob Hansen and Martin Pagaard (Volbeat, Amaranthe), Christoffer Stjerne (HERO), Chris Kreutzfeldt (CABAL, Ghost Iris, MØL) and Mirza Radonjica-Bang (Siamese, Helhorse) have all joined forces with the band in creating a debut album that surely will turn heads in all of Europe.
Their first single, Dancing In Nightmares, is a perfect example of what's to come from the talented bunch. A groovy and intense track with a chorus that will hit you harder than an NFL tackle. It's as infectious as it is powerful. According to Christine Fisker Nielsen:
“The song is about being in a relationship with someone who you so badly want to be with, but you’ve come to realize that you are just too different.”
South Haven is a product of the successful #NEXTGEN project started by Prime Collective, having the band perfecting their songwriting for almost three years before releasing anything. The co-producer and CEO of Prime Collective Mirza Radonjica elaborates:
“It was very important for me to find a unique formula with South Haven. A project that will stand out, but also deliver some really good songs. Spending 3 years in a studio can be tough, and it sure has been, but I could not be prouder of the results. South Haven is ready for the world

South Haven Lyrics

Is true, then you, should feel what my pain really means
Are you ever gonna change your mind?
Will you ever come to realize?
What you believe, is not how it's supposed to be
Feeding off emotions
Every single night
It's the same mistakes we make tonight
See the fire burn inside my eyes
cause this is war
Our love is war
It's you, I know, you're plain, so damn predictable
It's vain, I know, we need the drama need the show
Come on, come on, let me down
Come on, come on, let it out
I beg, and plead, it's in our veins, it's what we need
Feeding off emotions
Every single night
Here's to our devotion
It's the same mistakes we make tonight
See the fire burn inside my eyes
cause this is war
Our love is war
It's the same mistakes we make tonight
See the fire burn inside my eyes
cause this is war
Our love is war
We could try this one last time
Look at - look at me
Look what we could be
Think about it one more time
It's the same mistakes we make tonight
See the fire burn inside my eyes
cause this is war
Our love is war
It's the same mistakes - that we make
It's the same mistakes - that we make
This is war
Our love is war
The lyrics of "Devotion" by South Haven express the angst and heartache of a love that is toxic and tumultuous, yet impossible to let go of. The first verse sets the tone for the song by highlighting the contradictions and inconsistencies in the relationship. The singer accuses their partner of saying things that aren't true and not realizing the pain they have caused. The lines "What you believe, is not how it's supposed to be" suggest that the couple's fundamental disagreements are the root of their problems. The chorus, with its repeated reference to "our devotion" and "feeding off emotions," implies that the pair are addicted to their unhealthy dynamic.
The second verse delves deeper into the dysfunctionality of the relationship, with the singer acknowledging that they too contribute to the drama and the chaos. They plead with their partner to let down their guard and show their vulnerability, revealing their intense desire for the intensity of their love to be reciprocated. The bridge of the song offers a glimmer of hope for reconciliation, with the singer suggesting that they could try one last time to make their relationship work.
Overall, the lyrics of "Devotion" are a poignant and relatable exploration of the complexities of love and the struggles that come with trying to make a dysfunctional partnership work.
