The ba… Read Full Bio ↴Spike 1000 can be classified as nu-metal or modern hard rock.
The band formed in the early 1990's in Bakersfield, CA (the same hometown as Korn) and were forced to be patient as several bands around them grew and hit fame before they were even recognized.
Leading this modern band is the vocalist Shannon Harris; who can almost be mistaken as a male voice on the record. Bill Thompson plays guitar, "Mfat" pounds bass, and Jeff Jones is on drums.
After moving from Bakersfield to the San Francisco Bay Area, Spike 1000 sold their own five song demo CD at their own concerts, and finally in 2001 Columbia Records entered a deal with them and Spike 1000 released their debut album "Waste of Skin".

And your shove just don't amount to shit
I think I'll quit
But that ain't it
Making room for your lies
As you smell the chance to slight
And then smile inside
Just another fit, and I'm through with it
There's one true thing that I do believe
That I don't believe in you anymore
The easiest way to crucify the day
Is to brutalize what's inside
Make a wreck of your face
As they manage to fuse you
They make you a thief and warp all belief
There's one true thing that I do believe
That I don't believe in you anymore
Don't hand me this
Drape all your fears
You roll your eyes
I dress my size
And I won't believe it
And I won't believe in you
I won't believe it
I won't believe it
I won't believe it
I won't believe in you
(Shit)
Make it through, I will
Make it through to you cuz you're still
The bad element
There's one true thing that I do believe
That I don't believe in you
I won't believe it
I won't believe it
I won't believe it
I won't believe in you
I won't believe in you
I won't believe in you
I won't believe in you
(Fuck you)
The song "Element" by Spike 1000 is a powerful expression of someone who has been pushed to the edge by their toxic relationship with an individual who is manipulative and deceitful. The lyrics convey a strong sentiment of betrayal and disappointment as the singer wonders if it's time to leave the relationship. The lyrics in the first verse speak to the singer's desperation to disconnect from their partner. When their push to create space doesn't work and their partner continues to lie and deceive them, they feel like quitting but they know that's not the solution.
In the lower refrain, they say "There's one true thing that I do believe / That I don't believe in you anymore." This line is extremely powerful, as it reflects the singer's realization that their partner's love no longer matters since they can't trust them. In the second verse, the singer realizes that their partner's influence is slowly consuming them, but they refuse to allow it to take hold of them. They won't let fear and doubt infiltrate their mind.
Overall, "Element" is a powerful song that conveys an important message about toxic relationships and the need to walk away from them. The lyrics are relatable and thought-provoking, and the musical delivery is powerful and emotive.
