1) Spoon is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas. The band was formed in late 1993 by lead singer/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Current members also include: Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backing vocals) and Rob Pope (bass, backing vocals - replaced Joshua Zarbo in 2007).
After releasing their debut LP Telephono on Matador Records, the band signed with Elektra in 1998, but the contract was dropped soon after the band released A Series of Sneaks. In response the band released a two-song single titled The Agony of Laffitte (referring to Elektra A&R man Ron Laffitte). Eventually they signed to Merge Records.
Spoon has been met with widespread critical acclaim. Girls Can Tell, released in 2001, sold more copies than both their previous releases combined. Kill the Moonlight accomplished the same feat a year later. Gimme Fiction was released on May 10, 2005 and continued the trend of increasing popularity for the band.
Britt Daniel wrote much of the soundtrack to the 2006 film Stranger Than Fiction. Four tracks by Spoon are also featured.
The band released their sixth studio album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga on July 10, 2007; those who purchased the first pressing also received a bonus disc titled Get Nice!.
Transference is their seventh studio album. It was released on January 18, 2010 in Europe, and on January 19 in North America, to moderately positive reviews.

JEALOUSY
Spoon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You have never done a thing for me
No you have never done a thing for me
Jealousy, jealousy
Things go wrong
It sends me somewhere that I don't belong
Yeah it's just some place that I don't belong
I think of him and I get so carried on
I think of him
Da da da
Da da da da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da da
Da da da
Da da da
I think of him and things get carried on
I think of him and it's jealousy
But it's never done a thing for me
No it's never done a thing for me
Jealousy, jealousy
Jealousy x3
The lyrics to Spoon's song "Jealousy" explore the overwhelming and often irrational feeling of jealousy. The repetition of the phrase "You have never done a thing for me" suggests that despite the crippling impact jealousy can have, the object of the singer's jealousy has not directly caused these feelings. The chorus "Jealousy, jealousy" emphasizes the all-consuming nature of the emotion.
The second verse introduces the idea that when things go wrong, the singer is sent "somewhere that I don't belong". This could refer to the emotional turmoil that is caused when jealousy takes hold, leading to a sense of displacement and disorientation. The repetition of "Things go wrong, jealousy" reinforces the idea that this emotion has a destructive impact on the singer's life.
The final verse returns to the idea of thinking about the object of the singer's jealousy and the intense feelings that are elicited: "I think of him and things get carried on / I think of him and it's jealousy". The repetition of the phrase "But it's never done a thing for me / No it's never done a thing for me" suggests a sense of frustration and futility, as the singer recognizes that jealousy has no positive impact on their life.
Overall, the lyrics of "Jealousy" provide a poignant and relatable exploration of a universal human emotion.
