Very early on, Stéphane was fascinated by different kinds of music, listening to pop, rock and new wave. The real trigger happened in the late 80s, when he discovered house. One day in 1997 in Paris, when he was already a fairly famous DJ, he met up with Jean-Louis Costes, who asked him to mix music at his hotel restaurant. Very soon they had the idea of a compilation which could spread worldwide the spirit of the Hôtel Costes, this mythic glamorous place. The first compilation quickly became an undeniable reference. Over a dozen more successful and intense compilations followed.
Then he was asked to deejay everywhere in the world by haute couture designers such as Gucci, actresses like Cameron Diaz, and eventually remixed "What It Feels Like for a Girl" for Madonna… Yet Stéphane Pompougnac is not only a DJ - he is also an accomplished musician, composing and producing his own songs, which he proved in 2003 with the release of his first album Living On The Edge that featured several talented artists, notably Michael Stipe from REM. Today, Stéphane Pompougnac remains one of the most recognized DJs in the world.
Pompougnac released his second album Hello Mademoiselle in early 2006 after his eighth Hôtel Costes compilation.

Morenito Feat. Clémentine
Stéphane Pompougnac Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Desde o tempo vida pura
Já pensando quando crescer
Que a tarde nos reserva do prazer
Na pureza um sonho, simples sem maldade
Uma vida, uma vida toda
Inocência vem te dizer, que demais
Morenito, ni tes yeux, ni ta voix
Oh ni ta voix
Amor, tu n'oublieras pas
Morenito, ni nos jeux, ni nos joies
Oui, ni nos joies
Na primeira vez com você
Foi pra mim uma loucura
Quanto tempo pra me dizer
E esse momento lindo aparecer
Sonhos e saudades, e felicidades
Uma vida, nossa vida
Se existe eu posso pra você
Que demais
E esse momento lindo aparecer
Amor, je n′oublierai pas
Morenito, ni tes yeux, ni ta voix
Oh ni ta voix
Amor, tu n'oublieras pas
Morenito, ni nos jeux, ni nos joies
Oui, ni nos joies
The song "Morenito" by Stéphane Pompougnac feat. Clémentine is a romantic and nostalgic reflection on a past love. The lyrics describe the pure and innocent beginnings of a relationship, where the couple is only focused on experiencing pleasure and joy together. The singer reminisces about the time spent with her lover, emphasizing the beauty and simplicity of their life together.
The opening lines, "Tu vens vibrar comigo sem ver / Desde o tempo vida pura" can be translated as "You come to vibrate with me without seeing / Since the time pure life." Here, the singer is expressing how her relationship with her lover is emotional and intense, even though they may not always be physically present or aware of one another's feelings. As the song progresses, she remembers the moments of joy and passion they shared, which are now cherished memories.
The chorus, "Amor, je n'oublierai pas / Morenito, ni tes yeux, ni ta voix / Oh ni ta voix" translates to "Love, I will not forget / Morenito, neither your eyes, nor your voice / Oh, your voice." The repetition of "je n'oublierai pas" (I will not forget) emphasizes the lasting impact that the relationship had on the singer. The use of "Morenito" as a term of endearment adds to the romantic and nostalgic tone of the song.
Overall, "Morenito" is a reflective and poignant song that captures the emotions of a past love and the memories that linger long after the relationship has ended.
