1) Band Members:
Roger Hedge - Rythm guitar, vocals, songwriter
Jim McPherson - Bass guitar, keyboard, vocals, songwriter
Robert Rominger (Bob) - Lead Guitar, songwriter, vocals
Tom Bryant - Lead guitar
Dennis Carrasco - Drums, vocals
More of a folk-rock band than a psychedelic band, Stained Glass started out in 1964 playing Beatles covers. They performed in and around their native San Jose until an A & R man from RCA signed them to the label later that year. Of the multiple singles they recorded, the first two were a mixture of folk and Merseybeat, and met with some local success. The best was "We Got A Long Way To Go", a driving rock song with immediate appeal, which was a big hit in San Jose during April of 1967. They also had moderate success with a cover of a Beatle tune, "If I Needed Someone" which justified a short tour on the east coast.
They moved to Capitol in the Spring of 1968, issuing three singles and two albums. Of the six 45 sides on Capitol only Lady In Lace, written by McPherson, is non-LP. The tune was backed by "Soap and Turkey" written by Rominger. Both albums were quite highly rated, but failed to make much impact and the band disbanded in 1970, although McPherson went on the play with Copperhead.

As a side note on the promise kept cd all three of the stained glass members play on "keeper of the flame " and cellblock , Jim was a fabulous writer and has left a big influence I'n the 60's 70's San Francisco music scene . He and his wife Evy are two of the best friends my husband Tom ( guitarist Stained glass ) and I had . Another interesting bit of info is my husband is a left handed player and plays a right handed guitar which means he plays upside down and backwards ,

Those who purchased a few LP's 35- 45 years ago were buying a piece of a Musical Renaissance. As profound as the Great Art of the 16th Century and the Great Classical Music of the 18th Century. Hundreds of years from now this music will be viewed exactly that same way. We complain how the music of the present weakly imitates and has no substance. A fool's folly! The best Artists of the 20th Century Music Renaissance can not be duplicated any more easily than Mozart or the Sistine Chapel.

@gpomeroy I wouldn't doubt it Gary..... I think all these postings of Stained Glass need to get credit , where credit is due, as sadly after this many years, the origional writers and performers make no money , while I see many of these albums released in other countries , and someone is making money ..... At least set the record straight about the players....
