1) "States" is a new project of Bryan Laurenson & Stephen Laurenson of Copeland and Mindy White of Lydia. Their first studio album, Room to Run, was released on October 18, 2011. On September 7 2011, they released a video of the song "Time Bomb" from their upcoming album on Youtube.
“There are those rare moments in life where things work out just the way you want them to. For us, States is exactly that. In the wake of moving on from our amazing pasts (both Copeland and Lydia), we were blessed by perfect timing.
What you hear now is the product of us experimenting and recording demos at home. Our goal is to get our songs out there as soon as possible, and to be heading into the studio soon after.
This is our future, and we are so excited for you guys to be here at the start of it. We will be writing, recording, playing, and sharing our progress with you all. We hope that you become a part of this new chapter in our lives, and we can’t wait to see you all soon.”

States Lyrics

People say I'm a clown solving problems with booze
On a merry go round, avenue deja vu
I'm the talk of the town just the perfect excuse
Whatever, whatever, think you know it all
Whatever, whatever, think you have it all
Whatever, whatever, better look out for your lady
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
You can spit it all out I got a cure for the blues
Done with laughing out loud walk a mile in my shoes
With your head in the clouds ain't even got a clue
Say I'm letting you down that's some earthshaking news
Whatever, whatever, think you know it all
Whatever, whatever, think you have it all
Whatever, whatever, better look out for your lady
You know maybe
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
We could get it on
The lyrics to States' song As Good As It Gets talk about a person who is carefree and unburdened by the weight of societal expectations. The person is aware of how people perceive them and their lifestyle which involves using alcohol to solve their problems. They are in a state of déjà vu, indicating that life is passing by without much change or progress. Despite this, they remain the topic of gossip and the perfect excuse for people to talk about their unconventional lifestyle.
The chorus talks about disregarding other people’s opinions and enjoying life without any constraints. The line 'Better look out for your lady, you know maybe' seems to be a warning to those who might try to interfere with their lifestyle. The lyrics suggest a kind of rebellious spirit, where the person is not interested in conforming to societal norms.
The first verse seems to suggest that the person does not have much going on in their life, but they are okay with that. They have nothing to lose and are content with playing around. They seem to be aware that people might think they are foolish for the way they live, but they don't care.
Overall, the lyrics of As Good As It Gets by States celebrate living life on one's terms and not conforming to societal expectations. The song is about being independent and carefree, and not caring what others think of one's lifestyle.
