Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He′s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son
And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"
Give thanks

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He′s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us"
Give thanks

Look at what you've done (Look at what you′ve done)
Oh, we give thanks (Oh, we give thanks)

Look at all that you′ve done (Pour it out on you God)
We give thanks

The Holy One being referred to is God, who is seen as the giver of all good things. The song acknowledges that the greatest gift God has given to humanity is Jesus Christ, His Son. By giving up His Son, God showed the ultimate act of love and grace, and it is this act that is the reason for our gratitude.

This song wrecks my heart, there’s been so much loss in my life the past two years. I think about Jesus and what he did for me. Jesus suffered on that cross 😭 He experienced loss, betrayal, anxiety, fear. I love you Jesus, I can’t wait to be with you… Shalom to all.

I just burst into tears as soon as Melissa came in and lifted my hands as they sung And now let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich. This song took my back to my childhood in church. I never understood it then. How I do now! The Lord has done so much for me! Thank you Jesus. Thank you Steffany!

Me too. I also did. This song really took me out of one sad moment. I was very sad and when it says: "and now let the weak say I am strong... " I really could feel God was next to me. It was really beautiful and I cried. Sometimes when I sing this song I remember that moment when I cried because even when I felt poor, it reminded me that I am rich because I have Jesus.

Same here! I was born in 1977 and grew up in church but not a Christian home. These songs were my lifeline. The deeper understanding I have of these words in my 40s versus my 20s is a gift from God. Lost both my parents and went through a very difficult time in the last 5+ years but what else can a child of God say but GIVE THANKS.
