My Friends
Stereophonics Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're out to find that something new
Am I the fly you want trapped in your web
I've seen that look a thousand times
Your innocence can make you blind
I can show you 'round a block or two
Let me introduce you to my friends
Let me buy you things, let me in your head
Let us fly away let this never end
My friend
My friend
Kick back think back look at you
You got the look you got the shoes
I'd like to fill your world and be with you
Your lust for life just turns me on
A star above that's shining on
Think I'd like to see the world like you
[Chorus: x2]
In the first verse of the song "My Friends" by Stereophonics, the singer is addressing someone who may be on the hunt for something new, whether that be a new adventure or a new romantic interest. He questions if he is the one that this person wants to trap in their web, indicating that he may recognize some manipulative tendencies in this person. The singer then offers to show this person around a bit to both assist them and protect himself from getting trapped.
In the chorus of the song, the singer offers to introduce this person to his friends and buy them things. He wants to forge a connection and never let it end, solidifying the idea that he is trying to create a meaningful relationship. In the second verse, the singer admires the person's lust for life and is drawn in by their energy. He offers to be with them and fill their world, further indicating his desire for a deep connection.
Overall, the song seems to be a warning about recognizing manipulative people and the danger of getting caught up in their web. The singer also displays a longing for true connection and excitement in life.
