Noble Gas
Steve Aoki Lyrics
Some people want to go live on Mars, you don't wanna live on Mars
You want to explore Mars
If we were to discover evidence of life on Mars, it would change the course of human history
It would be like Copernicus, discovering that the Earth goes around the sun
It would be like Galileo, showing that the moon is not a perfect circle
The moon's full of craters
So along with the many other scientific discoveries that humans have made, we've found out that
Atoms hook together to make molecules
Some atoms don't hook together, they don't, they don't interact with other atoms
And these are what we call the noble elements, or the noble gases
You know what the future is? Future is neon
Topic number ten, it's a neon future
You want to explore Mars
If we were to discover evidence of life on Mars, it would change the course of human history
It would be like Copernicus, discovering that the Earth goes around the sun
It would be like Galileo, showing that the moon is not a perfect circle
The moon's full of craters
So along with the many other scientific discoveries that humans have made, we've found out that
Atoms hook together to make molecules
Some atoms don't hook together, they don't, they don't interact with other atoms
And these are what we call the noble elements, or the noble gases
Topic number ten, it's a neon future

I have full faith in a reality in which we someday invent an AI capable of better problem-solving intellect than we are, which then utilizes said sentience to help address human ailments (as well as human temptations, such as greed and so forth). With this integration of AI thinking into human evolution, I have full faith that we will one day become far more than what we currently are; some call this Post-Humanism because in many ways we would be far different than "humans" of modern standards at that point. Once we reach the point of being able to alter ourselves in ways to eliminate disease, replace lost senses (heck, even replace lost or aging body parts or halt aging altogether), we may even find ways to consider how to transfer human consciousness into avatars that require no "routine maintenance" (such as dental checkups, chemo, etc.). Human ingenuity, if we allow it, will lead to the creation of AI far more intelligent than any current politician or scientist alive. And once that occurs, we can truly step into the realm of what a truly empathetic human race can be.
Perhaps that's the greatest tragedy of humankind; for this version of humanity to exist, the other has to fade into obscurity. And yet, it's likely to be our greatest triumph if it does indeed come to pass. If we do one day transcend our biological limitations, and transcend the nuances of day-to-day politics (and find means to make those talks more productive, efficient and bearable), it'll be in stark contrast to our much darker present. There will be those who refuse to accept the gifts of science and knowledge; like our generation now, they will unfortunately not bear witness to the days in which humankind (or posthuman kind) will be sailing amongst the stars.
While we were satisfied shooting for the moon, I relish in the tranquility of my thoughts as I blast Steve Aoki's Neon Future loudly and proudly.
Our children won't settle for Apollo's achievements. They'll be without war and decay, sending their starships to moons henceforth not discovered.
That's a tomorrow worth striving for. I'm so excited for my kids to see it.
