I lay in the fields
Watching you arise the dead in me
Everyone’s looking for something.
Across the ground, scattered with the bones of past psalms and revolutions and the old, worn faith your father lent you.
Everyone is singing a song. And it’s always about the same thing. Love lost, love found, that great open space between heaven and earth.
Forget the proselytism, forget the harsh edges of the letter of the law. There’s someone up there, and He is like water and fire, deep with grace and mystery.
These are not songs of a preacher. They’re not ballads to lilting love. These are just alms to that old, worn faith. Skin for the skeleton. The sound of someone looking for a resurrection. From the opening throes of ‘Hallelujah’ to the closing refrain of ‘Resurrection Song’, Water and Fire is the sound of someone who travels with dust on his feet, connected to the earth, but eyeing heaven.
Everyone’s looking for something. Sometimes it is home. Sometimes it’s that long lost love. Sometimes it’s God.
Most times it is all of these.
This is my resurrection song,
Written in the only ink I own.
Call Me

Call me out from where I've been
Speak to me in poems
'Cause I love it so much more when You sing
Hold me
Hold me out in front with Your hands
There in Your arms my heart is safe
It's safe again
This song is warm again when I'm with You
You have called me "friend"
This song is warm again when I'm with You
Put me
Put me out upon Your plans
Make me a river
Make me a river bending soft through Your hands
You have called me "friend"
This song is warm again when I'm with You
You have called me "friend"
This song is warm again when I'm with You
And oh, Your love takes me high
And oh, Your love takes me
Call me
Call me out from where I've been
Speak to me in poems in poems in poems
'Cause I love it when You sing!
And oh, Your love takes me high
And oh, Your love takes me
And oh, Your love takes me high
Oh yes Your lo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-ove
Yes it's Your lo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-ove
The song "Call Me" by Strahan speaks about the desire to be close to God and to hear His voice calling out for us. The lyrics capture the longing to connect with God on a deeper level and the feeling of safety and warmth that comes from being in His presence. The first verse talks about being called out from where the singer has been and how he wants God to speak to him in poems, emphasizing the beauty and artistic nature of the connection. The chorus repeats the line "You have called me 'friend'," which is a powerful image of being intimately known by God and having a personal relationship with Him. The bridge highlights how God's love takes the singer higher, which signifies transcendence beyond earthly concerns and to a more profound spiritual existence.
The second verse uses a metaphor of being made into a river, which symbolizes the singer's desire to be part of God's plan and to flow freely under His guidance. The idea of bending softly through God's hands expresses the singer's willingness to be submissive and take on God's shape instead of trying to control his own path. The repetition of the chorus reinforces how being in God's presence and having a close relationship with Him makes the singer feel warm and safe, which are essential human desires.
Overall, "Call Me" is a song about the yearning for a deeper connection with God and feeling safe and warm in His presence. The singer seeks to be called out, spoken to in an artistic language, and molded by God's hands, all while being intimately known as a friend by God. The song accentuates the beauty and comfort that comes from a spiritual connection with the divine.

This guy needs a lot more publicity! He is severely gifted by our Lord. I especially love to listen to his music after a bad day or at bedtime to help ease my troubled nerves.

Strahan you have touched the hearts of two 60 year-old folks! We drove to Waco at the Common Grounds Coffee House to hear you when you came to the States. We were the only ones older than 30. :) But wow! It was one of the best nights of music we've been to!
Your testimony shown through your words, your music, and your spirit. We were saved during the 70's Revival here in the USA. God called my husband to pastor, which he's been doing for the last 40+ years. We feasted on the music of Keith Green, Larry Norman, Chuck Girard, Malcolm & Alwyn & Andre Crouch, when Christian music was making it's huge debut. But it's been a long time since we have witnessed the likes of the gift that you have been given! Keep it real and keep your focus on the Lord the way you have been doing, and there is fruit in abundance everywhere you go! It was so fun to see a place filled with young college students soaking up the Word put to music! Praying for you!
