Strange Advance released three albums between 1982 and 1988. The first, Worlds Away, brought the band's biggest hit singles: "Kiss in the Dark", "She Controls Me", and the title track "Worlds Away", which saw modest airplay in North American markets in 1983. Their 1985 album 2WO brought them another big hit with "We Run". Their third album The Distance Between produced the hit single "Love Becomes Electric". In 1995, the album Worlds Away & Back featured a mix of old and new material.

You're on your own and meet a friend
Who doesn't kill but wounds for life
The sun blinds you through the trees
While watching clues fall from the skies
And she smiles
At the point of the knife
You never see anyone
How the strong will survive
At the end of their gun
We Run
Frozen smiles for men returned
They never even left this place
She kissed me softly on the cheek
And a shadow cut across her face
At the point of the knife
You never see anyone
How the strong will survive
At the end of their gun
We Run
I walked for miles and miles to the sea
I know you never tried to deceive
At the point of the knife
You never see anyone
How the strong will survive
At the end of their gun
At the point of the knife
You never see anyone
How the strong will survive
At the end of their gun
The lyrics to "We Run" by Strange Advance can be interpreted in multiple ways. One possible interpretation is that it is about navigating through a dangerous world where you have to rely on your own instincts and decisions. The opening lines, "You're on your own and meet a friend/Who doesn't kill but wounds for life," suggest that even the people you trust can hurt you in some way. The next line, "The sun blinds you through the trees/While watching clues fall from the skies," portrays a sense of disorientation and confusion.
The chorus, "We Run," suggests that the only way to survive in this world is to keep moving forward, to run away from danger and towards safety. The second verse suggests that even when you think you are in a safe place, danger can still find you. The lines "Frozen smiles for men returned/They never even left this place," suggest that soldiers who have come back from war are not able to fully leave behind the trauma they experienced. The last line, "And a shadow cut across her face," suggests that even in moments of happiness or love, there can be a lurking sense of fear or danger.
The final verse suggests a sense of resolution or acceptance. The lines "I walked for miles and miles to the sea/I know you never tried to deceive" suggest a long journey towards understanding or forgiveness. The final chorus repeats the message that survival depends on being strong and vigilant, even in the face of danger.

I'm so glad that I grew up in the 80s. Hey dose anyone remember "Good Rockin Tonight". It aired Friday nights on the CBC. Terry David Mulligan hosted it.

First exposure to a music video show. So awesome. A real treat. Night Ranger was one of my first video memories. Honeymoon Suite. Def Leppard. Good times. Oh, and of course, Corey Hart and Gino Vanelli.

I remember and it wasn't bad but I'm a sixties child
@danivoorhees1240
Yes I do. I remember watching that show every single Friday night in the 80s in my early to mid teens. I watched it on CBC Television from Toronto where this show was broadcast on CBC from Vancouver.

Yes, I do. I would never miss a show. After him, it was hosted by Stu Jeffries. They would always start or end a show with 'Have you heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight."

I always loved Canadian rock from the eighties. It had a rawness, a purity that was not matched by bands from any other country at the time. The music was very unique. As a yank from the States; my 83 Ford Escort's radio cassette player played tapes (yes, tapes) from such bands as Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Haywire, Corey Hart, Frozen Ghost, and many others from the Great White North. I would give anything to go back to the Spring of 89', driving down some back country road in the area I grew up, while listening to "New Girl Now".
