Scissor Hands
Stray From the Path Lyrics
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
You fooled me once, that won't be happening again
We were the best of friends
She's playing games with your head
She fooled you twice, I'll never see my friend again
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
You fooled me once, that won't be happening again
She's playing games with your head
She fooled you twice, I'll never see my friend again
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
You fooled me once, that won't be happening again
We were the best of friends
She's playing games with your head
She fooled you twice, I'll never see my friend again
Like the skin of a snake, you shed my friend
My fingers they ache, but I still press send
I know you're alone yet you still won't pick up your phone
You're lost in this world looking around for your backbone
Flashing back to the times where we spent
Every hour of every day, where nothing got in our way (in our way)
Flashing back, I wonder what those times even meant
Every hour of every day and now you don't have much to say
I know you're so alone
I know you're so alone
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
You fooled me once, that won't be happening again
We were the best of friends
She's playing games with your head
She fooled you twice, I'll never see my friend again
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
You fooled me once, that won't be happening again
We were the best of friends
She's playing games with your head
She fooled you twice, I'll never see my friend again
("Yo Jay, when was the last time you talked to him?"
"To be honest I couldn't even tell you, it's been a minute.
I bet you he's caught up with homegirl"
"It's such a shame too, because that girl treats him like shit"
"You know what, Drew, you're right")
You're a leaf in the fall, I've watched it change
Into something you've always hated, that filled you with rage
But I see that it isn't you, this person I kinda know
I hope that you fade away as fast as the wind blows
And she's the queen of hearts, with an ace up her sleeve
And you gave her a diamond kid, because she made you believe
Flashing back to the times where we spent
Every hour of every day, where nothing got in our way (in our way)
Flashing back, I wonder what those times even meant
Every hour of every day and now you don't have much to say
We were the best of friends
But you don't need me in the end
We were the best of friends (you were my nigga)
She's playing games with your head
We were the best of friends
Fuck!
But you don't need me in the end
OK, OK
We were the best of friends
She's playing games with your head

"I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this song and what it's about. Have you ever had a close friend start dating someone that you thought wasn't right for them? Well that is what this song is about. It sucks when you're friends with someone and you start to see them change for the worse. They act different, seem different and even look different. When they start disappearing from your life is when you know something is wrong. We've all been in situations like this where one of close friends choose their significant other over their friends. Well that is what this song is about. It sucks when you're friends with someone and you start to see them change for the worse. They act different, seem different and even look different. When they start disappearing from your life is when you know something is wrong. We've all been in situations like this where one of close friends choose their significant other over their friends. I feel like this happens a lot in life, we knew people could relate to a song like this and it was also something that we wanted to write about. I think this is one of the most unique sounding songs on the record compared to the others.
This track also features Jason Butler from letlive., such a great frontman and friend of ours. It was really cool because he just so happened to be in New York while we were recording vocals. So Jason came in and we worked on the song all day. he killed it. We gave him free reign to do what he wanted and be creative and if you know Jason you know he got right up to the mic making crazy noises on all kinds of different patterns, it was awesome.
To sum it all up I just want to make it known that if you have someone in your life that calls you their friend but is never there for you anymore because they chose a horrible person to be with, use this song as motivation to say something to them. You could be saving someone from being miserable for the rest of their lives. And if they don't hear you out then you did what you could, but at least you tried. Friendship is a huge part of this band, with fans, other bands and people that we work with. I'd say it's one of the most important things to us."
